ACCOUNTABILITIES
Create machine learning predictive and prescriptive models (supervised and unsupervised)
Understand project requirements and then guide junior team members to plan, deploy, and maintain models and applications
Utilize cutting-edge data science techniques to build, train and optimize various predictive models based on technical specifications
Data engineering and manipulation of large data sets
Lead, design, plan, and execute programming approaches to support various development projects
Code at an expert level in applications with Python. Drive relational database design as well as the use of MongoDB and Hadoop/HDF.
Generate hypotheses and analyze data to test and interpret results
Designs, develops, and analyze the results of complex data queries necessary to identify data quality issues and presents results in an easy-to-understand format to end users
Perform system monitoring and technical support
Design, implement and deliver reports based on business requirements
Troubleshoot and support all BI related production processing
Perform complex analysis of data at a very granular level and present relevant findings in business terms to business partners
Development of test requirements, implementation and testing of reports, tracking results and records and escalates issues
Develop impactful dashboards that drive actionable insights
QUALIFICATIONS
Efficient in Python (concentration in data science packages).
Experience in leading or managing a small team of data scientists
Expert knowledge in traditional relational database concepts and design
Fluent in SQL
Data design and optimization
Advanced query, join operation, and aggregate
Analyze data quality and make recommendations for data preparation
Strong ability to communicate both verbally and in writing, especially with technical analysis (including understanding internal documents)
Experience with data manipulation, data engineering and working with large data sets
Ability to troubleshoot technical issues
Proficient in creating reasonable and accurate time estimates for assigned tasks
Firm knowledge of Machine Learning and statistics
Working knowledge with Linux
Knowledge of MongoDB
Experience working within Agile Frameworks, such as Scrum or Kanban
Self-motivated and self-managing
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
A degree from a four-year college, technical school or university in technology with a concentration in data science. Masters degree preferred.
2-3 Years leading machine learning and data science teams/projects
3-5+ Years of SQL development required
1-3+ Expert report design experience in at least one reporting tool such as Tableau, MicroStrategy, SSRS, Cognos, Qlikview, etc… (Tableau & MicroStrategy preferred)
1-3 Years of Big Data (Hadoop, Spark, Databricks)
Machine learning knowledge
Python scripting
MongoDB & Spark database experience desired
SKILLS & CERTIFICATIONS
Tableau Certification a plus
Utilizing best practices for dashboard design
Proficient and knowledgeable in design, development and delivery of BI solutions
Understanding of Relational and unstructured database management concepts
SQL data querying and manipulation
Proficient with writing/creating reports, business correspondence, and presentations.
Excellent verbal and non-verbal communication and telephone etiquette. Able to communicate with people at all levels.
PC experience in a Microsoft Windows environment, proficient with internet e-mail, Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, and other software.
