Currently we are using costly consultants to prepare these maps. 2.
The Government authorities are themselves using digital means for mine
monitoring. An example is the mine tenement system developed by IBM f
or digital mapping of mines. The Govt. authorities are becoming more d
igital savvy and before they catch us for possible inadvertent mistake
, we need to take corrective action. 3. The digital mine mapping will
create transparency and visibility that will make mine monitoring eas
y and our compliance level will increase. It will also help in reducin
g cost as haul road or ramp planning, dump design and OB re-handling c
an be vastly improved. 4. The volumetric measurements will become mor
e accurate with digital mine mapping and monitoring. 5. The digital v
olumetric measurement using drone survey is also far more productive.
The entire monthly survey can be completed in just about 2 days with j
ust 2-3 heads. Thus, contractual manpower required for physical survey
using total station will reduce substantially. 6. Illegal mining or
encroachment can be detected using drone survey and we would also get
documentary evidence for the same. 7. The mine productivity in terms
of better deployment of shovel and dumpers will also improve because o
f higher visibility. The hauling cost will also improve due to better
visibility that will help in advanced planning of haul road and ramps.
8. The 3D mine model can be used for monitoring the movement of mobi
le equipment (provided each one has GPS based tracking system). This d
ata can also be used to incentivize higher productivity. 9. Quality c
ontrol system which depends primarily on blending philosophy for our i
ron ore mines will improve as visibility of mine faces, sub-grade stoc
ks and their quality will improve drastically using the 3D frame on co
