Summary of the Position

The position leads the IT organization and has the overall responsibility of infrastructure and operations, application support, software quality assurance and project management functions at USP India. 

 

He/she is responsible for the delivery of IT infrastructure and operation to enable business capabilities and services at USP’s India site.  He/she is also responsible for establishing, building and overseeing an application support center to provide development, maintenance and support of USP’s enterprise systems, which include Oracle ERP, data warehouse and business intelligence system and other business applications.

 

The Director brings current IT knowledge, leadership and management abilities, process design skills, and business acumen to build a robust IT service delivery capability and a strong partnership with business stakeholders.  He/she is a member of the Global Information Services leadership team, and contributes to the development and execution of the global IT strategy and is responsible for ensuring the IT operations and service delivery at USP India are aligned to the global IT vision, policies, procedures and performance objectives.  The Director is an experienced and motivated IT leadership with broad background in IT operations, infrastructure and application support with a demonstrated track record of collaborating across teams, developing staff, coordinating multiple timelines, and managing complex, cross-discipline projects.

 

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Leads the IT organization to foster a business-oriented culture and mindset driven by continuous improvement
  • Introduces innovative, differentiating infrastructure and operation capabilities that enhance our competitive capabilities and employee productivity
  • Provides leadership, direction and oversight of an application support center in the development, maintenance and support of USP’s enterprise systems
  • Provides leadership, direction and oversight of the software quality assurance team to test USP’s enterprise applications and online products
  • Builds successful stakeholder relationships with other IT and business leaders by developing a clear understanding of business needs and ensuring cost-effective delivery of IT services to meet those needs
  • Defines comprehensive service delivery metrics to measure and report the performance and throughput of the application support center and continuously enhance the service delivery capability
  • Directs the development of an IT sourcing strategy and provides oversight for vendor and partner relationship management at USP India
  • Develops the IT disaster recovery plan and ensures it is communicated, rehearsed and measured
  • Acts as an advocate for the India office in the development of global IT enterprise standards, policies and procedures, and selection and evaluation of global IT technology

 

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, business administration or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Fifteen or more years of experience in IT.
  • Five or more years of management experience including budgeting and managing managers.
  • Five or more years of experience managing an IT offshore service delivery function in IT operations or application development
  • Advanced understanding of infrastructure technologies – server, database, network, storage, security and management technologies
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts and technologies to business leaders, and business concepts to the IT team

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in computer science, information systems, business administration or related field, or equivalent work experience
  • Result-driven with demonstrated success in delivering IT services for US customers
  • Expertise in budget planning and financial management
  • Deep understanding of current and emerging IT technologies and practices, and how other enterprises are employing them
  • Ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to establish and maintain harmonious relationships with direct reports, IT peers, and senior management across USP
