POSITION SUMMARY: Provides conceptual and detailed design of systems/components used in industrialDirect Reduction plants. Supports E&I plant commissioning and startup activities as required.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:• Electrical/Instrumentation (E/I) Designer 2 does not have direct supervisory responsibilities, but mayprovide direction to other designers and contract personnel as requested by Management, SeniorEngineers, and/or Engineers. E/I Designer 2 may act as a Lead E/I individual for various projects andinitiatives based on job experience and competency.DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:• Take conceptual designs, sketches, and ideas from Engineers or Senior Designers to develop the detailsnecessary for a complete, engineered drawing capable of being used for purchasing, erection in thefield, design analysis, etc.• Use AutoCad software to create Electrical and Instrumentation (E/I) drawings for the basic and detailedengineering of a Midrex plant.• Perform checking of E/I drawings for consistency with conceptual ideas, design sketches, etc.• Assist Engineers by suggesting design changes that might improve the desired results of the design.• Write requisitions, quotations, specifications, technical writings, etc.• Perform basic equipment and system calculations.• Based on experience, may coordinate the E/I design effort as the Lead E/I individual for a small-tomedium project by:o Directing the efforts of assigned personnel for the E/I system design requirements;o Checking drawings, calculations, sketches, etc. for the project;o Developing specifications/requisitions for support of purchasing effort;o Reviewing and approving purchasing quotations, vendor drawings, and QA documents.o Ensuring that relevant E/I information from vendor documentation and drawings is incorporatedinto the detail design.• Provide technical support for the Aftermarket, Inspections, & Purchasing departments with review ofvendor submittals and on-site inspections of electrical equipment, instrumentation, and electricalportions of mechanical/equipment packages.• Travel on business trips as required to carry out departmental, project, & corporate tasks and functions.• Travel on field assignments as required to assist with construction, commissioning and startup of theplant.
