    Purpose of the role:


    Steer and lead the battery engineering team towards successful design and integration of energy efficient battery systems.


    Tasks & Accountabilities:


     Responsibility for battery and energy storage related engineering activities


     Steer and oversee the design of the battery system and cell packs from conception through production, launch and ramp


     Final decision point for choosing competing design approaches post performance evaluation


     Work cross-functionally with cell modeling, firmware, battery safety etc. teams to develop specifications for the battery packs used

     

     Ensure the validation and characterization of new equipment and fixtures for production


     Ensure the development and usage of state-of-the-art energy storage technologies


     Lead the efforts in troubleshooting, identifying, and resolving system, hardware, and firmware issues pertaining to battery packs 


     Collaborate with cross-func. efforts with manufacturing, design, and the support teams to prevent known systematic issues from reoccurring
     Product Design

    1. Provide leadership in simulation, design, component selection, etc.
    2. Drive battery improvements, safety design, etc. with bug-free electronics to build an extremely high-quality product
     Develop and grow a high-performance engineering team. Help building the team with recruiting, mentorship and goal setting
     

     

    Skills, Abilities & Know-how:


     Experience with working on high power battery systems in automotive


     Experience with R&D efforts pertaining to efficient energy storage with long cycle life


     Engineering experience in large automotive organizations with managerial exposure (EV experience is a plus)


     Experience with working on projects with cross-functional teams


     Ability to optimally allocate resources in a constrained environment during prioritization of features in the product


     Proven leadership and management skills with the ability to optimize team performance and development


     Exceptional communication, people & leadership skills
