Position: Application Engineering Manager

Location: Bangalore 

 

Job Description:

  • Lead a team for Design & develop of mechanisms incl.  Steering Wheel/Airbags for the passenger cars/SUVs/MUVs
  • Knowledge & experience on sheet metal & plastic parts design & development
  • Prepare BoM & Conduct Design Reviews, DFMEA, DFM & A, GD&T, tolerance stack up, etc.,
  • Knowledge & experience on Catia V5 & PLM (Enovia)
  • Active participation & Collaborate with CFT incl. Project Management, Purchase, Quality, Testing, Suppliers, production, etc.,
  • Participate & Conduct prototype / vehicle trials and liaison for the necessary modifications to meet the product requirements
  • Participate & lead in problem/failure analysis during lab / vehicle testing/assembly (G8D Approach)
  • Visit the customers/Supplier visits for project discussion/trials/failure analysis, etc.,
  • Liaison & represent in Global Team as necessary

 

Deliverables:

  • 3D CAD & 2D Drawing freeze & release with GD&T, Tolerance stack up analysis
  • Design Review, DFMEA, DFM & A, BOM, DVP, 8D, Lessons Learned
  • Validation & the product meeting the functional, performance, strength, durability, environmental and reliability requirements
  • Engineering time plan/schedule preparation & its compliance
  • TFC – Tool feasibility commitment for the sheet metal & plastics parts

 

Core Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop Steering Wheel/Airbags for the passenger cars/SUVs/MUVs
  • 3D CAD & 2D Drawing freeze/release, Design Review, DFMEA, DFM & A, BOM, DVP, Test order release, Test report evaluation, PLM updated/uploading, etc.,
  • Proto parts build support
  • Liaison with test lab for the product testing
  • Compliance / adherence of the Engineering time plan
  • TFC – Tool feasibility commitment for the sheet metal & plastics parts

 

Desired Profile:

  • Graduate/Postgraduate in Mechanical /Automobile Engineering with 10 – 12 years (or) Diploma with 15-18 Years’ experience in automotive industry (Tier I)
  • Experience in design & develop Safety critical mechanisms incl. Steering wheels, Airbags, etc.,
  • Experience in Sheet metal & plastic parts design & development
  • Hands on experience in Catia V5
