Mechanical Modeling Engineer Job Description The mechanical modelling andsimulation engineer will execute and lead analytical simulation effort withfinite element structural modelling technique for complex mechanical parts andassemblies. He/she validates the results analytically. Loadings may includehigh elevate temperature temperatures up to 400° F, high pressure pressures upto 32000 psi, high bending and tension/compression loading, shocks up to 500Gs, and combinations of these. Primary Responsibilities 1. Execute finiteelement stress analysis on complex mechanical parts and assemblies, from basicto advanced models with highly non-linearity involved (plasticity, complexcontact and large deformations), fatigue failure and crack propagation. 2.Define analytical/empirical solutions for comparison to and validation ofnumerical prediction methods. 3. Able to correlate the simulation results withtesting/field information. 4. Develop modelling methodologies per industrystandards such as ASME and ISO. Other Requirements 1. Mechanical engineeringeducation 2. In-depth technical knowledge of Finite Element Analysis andreverent hands-on in ANSYS. Should be able to demonstrate the problem solvingcapability in ANSYS software as individual contributor. ABAQUS is a plus. 3.Proficient in CAD (Pro/E preferred) is a plus. 4. Effectively communicate andcollaborate with product groups at global sites, and able to execute theproject independently. 5. Excellent communication and presentation skill. Ableto write comprehensive reports to describe modelling work and clearly conveyideas. 6. Ensure on-time and error-free execution of projects 7. Familiar withfracture mechanics using Finite Elements Modeling is a plus. 8. Motivated toextend use of mechanical simulations to complement or replace physicalprototyping and experiments and to impart this modeling culture to otherengineers. 9. Demonstrated ability to work in a team. 10. Understandsfabrication methods and industrial processes and is experienced inexperimental testing methods. 11. Able to mix theory and pragmatism in thesolution of engineering problems. Background  PhD in Mechanical Engineeringand 1-2 years of experience in computer simulations involving FEA using ANSYS MS in Mechanical Engineering and 3-5 years of experience in computersimulations involving FEA using ANSYS (mechanical design experience is a plus)
