Ensuring qualitat ive development by implementing Build-In Quality principles, following agreed up on methods, processes
and tools (e.g. following DoD, using Test-Driven-Development etc.) The Release Train Engineer acts as a facilitator for multiple teams in a Agile Release train staffed up to (approximately) 125 members.
He is ensuring qualitative development by facilitating agreed upon methods conformance and facilitates a continuous improvement of the whole train. The Release Train Engineer also ensures that Impediments within the train are removed and conflicts are resolved.
The challenge for a Release Train Engineer depends on the maturity, experience, and location-distribution of the Agile Teams, or the extend of Agile Teams subcontracted by an external Service Provider.
The Facilitator- Release Train Engineer:
is part of a Program Team, together with a Product Manager and a Release Train Architect represents the overall Agile Release Train Setup on Program Level, Solution Level, and Team Level is a servant leader and facilitates progress towards the program goals has knowledge in agile methods/practices and lean agile mindset strives for relentless improvement of the Agile Release Train in collaboration with the Scrum Masters acts a coach & conflict mediator is leading, mentoring and synchronizing Facilitators/ Scrum Masters with less experience
