SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
 Provide technical direction to Designers and/or contract personnel assigned to the project team.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
 Take direction from Management, Senior Engineers, and Engineers. Give direction to Designers and contract personnel; able to lead plant structural model reviews.
 Perform computer aided modeling and drafting necessary to create a 3D model and 2D civil/structural
drawings for the basic and detailed engineering of a Midrex DR plant.
 Travel to job sites to perform reviews of existing structures, layouts, etc. for use in developing future
plans, proposals, etc.
 Travel on business trips and/or field assignments as required to carry out departmental tasks and
functions.
 Perform checking of civil/structural drawings for consistency with company standards, conceptual ideas,
design, sketches, etc. Mentor more junior staff to achieve design & modeling standards required, and
plans complex design tasks assigned to them.
 Assist Engineers by suggesting design changes that might improve the desired results of the design.
 Able to anticipate structural design problems due to experience, and perform basic engineering
calculations, and advanced design calculations where necessary.
 Provide assistance to Mechanical Engineers and Designers in the layout of equipment, ducting, etc. with
input for their structural support.
 Coordinate work on projects with outside engineering consultants.
 Work as a teammate with all company departments and employees in all assignments. Work toward
building consensus on all assignments by finding solutions which meet the best interests of all parties
involved.
SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Required:
 Be proficient in the use of 3D computer modeling skills using Aveva E3D and PDMS design software.
 Be proficient in the use of AutoCAD software and related Autodesk products.
 Ability to take conceptual designs, sketches and ideas from Engineers and develop the details necessary
for a complete, engineered 3D model and 2D drawings capable of being used for purchasing, erection in
the field, design analysis, etc.
 Knowledge of and experience with personal computer hardware/software.
 Ability to meet schedule and deliverable deadlines.
 Excellent technical writing and interpersonal skills. Preferred:
 Advanced 3D computer modeling skills using Aveva E3D and PDMS products.
 Microsoft Excel skills including pivot tables and developing lists for engineering.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
 Associate Degree in civil and/or mechanical discipline or demonstrated proficiency in 3D modeling and
design of industrial structures
 Minimum of 6 years of design experience in a technical environment, preferably related to heavy
industrial facilities.
 TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
 Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (up to 10%, based on project demands).
