Role and Responsibilities Responsible for integrating and optimizing cross-border air and ocean shipping and delivery resources, continuously reducing costs, optimizing operational efficiency, and improving profitability. The position requires to take full control of the shipment from origin to destination under pre-defined procedures using carriers, vendors, port facilities and government agencies as per the contractual obligation with the client. • Communicating with overseas sales, operations, and other functional departments to ensure smooth operations • Updating the shipping status in a timely manner and keeping customers informed • Managing operations of all export and import shipments as per the contract with the customer and as per operational guidelines • Ensuring adherence to procedural shipment requirements from shippers and/or consignee • Preparing documents related to shipment, placing booking and filing shipping instructions with the carriers and vendors • Coordinating with shipping lines and airlines • Dealing with truckers and customs clearance brokers • Dealing with agents worldwide based on agreed agency agreements • Taking air and sea freight quotes and booking shipments with freight agents • Exploring new fields of business and including commercial team wherever necessary • Following and ensuring complete adherence to MOPs and SOPs for smooth and efficient working • Ensuring proper, correct and timely invoicing to the customers as per the signed commercial agreement and keeping accounts department informed • Maintaining continuous and strong relationship with the carriers and the vendors • Keeping track of timely collection for all domestic, international vendors and overseas agents cost invoices and ensuring the correctness and timely booking of the invoices in the operation system • Taking end to end responsibility for all freight transactions • Prompt documentation and coordination for customs clearance to ensure smooth clearance process and to avoid any demurrage or detention • Visiting sea ports / airports to solve operations deadlocks • Running daily MIS report on shipment visibility and profitability
