Essential Functions of the Job:
Support for all Enterprise Storage Technologies in the Global Datacenters and Regional Data Rooms, including but not limited to:
o Full suite of EMC storage products including: VMAX, PMAX, VNX, VPLEX, Unity, Isilon, XIO and Compellent
o Brocade Enterprise Fibre Channel Directors (DCX) and Switches
...
o Fibre channel zoning and switch administration
o File and block replication, snapshot and migration approaches and technologies
o Block storage presentation and administration
o File system design, inmplementation, security implementation and access control concepts
o Microsoft Active Directory administration
o Firmware updates and vulnerability patching and remediation.
Partner with peers and management to make informed and sound strategic decisions.
Perform day to day general Storage Administration on multiple heterogeneous environments spread across several geographies.
Perform proactive maintenance and monitoring to ensure the integrity of the Enterprise Storage Infrastructure.
In a project-basis, contribute to the design, implementation and operation of Storage Technologies for:
o UNIX Servers
o Linux Distributions
o VMware Virtualization Environments
o Windows Infrastructure
Be willing and available to provide after hours and on-call on an as-needed basis.
Be willing to travel as required (reasonable notice will be given when necessary).
Work with management to ensure that KPI’s and SLA’s are met and exceptions occur only when strictly justified by business/technical reasons.
Proactively work with multiple Vendors to coordinate and schedule Service, Maintenance and Regular Upgrades and Updates.
Communicate and report accurately and efficiently with different levels of management on Project Status on a timely basis.
Analytical/Decision Making Responsibilities:
Work and collaborate proactively with the Storage Capacity & Compliance team to assess, report and act upon Capacity Management Processes.
Collaborate with Major Incident and Major Problem Resolution teams on high impact and visibility situations where quick judgment and excellent
decision making are key to restore service.
Flexibility to adjust to multiple demands, shifting priorities, ambiguity and rapid change.
Work and team with a multitude of different people to balance demands.
Deal efficiently with escalations and difficult situations/people under pressure, such as Major Incidents where restoring service is the priority.
Knowledge and Skills Requirements:
Excellent knowledge of EMC storage products is highly desirable. EMXC VMAX, VNX XtremeIO, Compellent, VPLEX and associated products highly
regarded. Snapshot, Replication and failover technologies experience highly regarded.
Extensive knowledge of Enterprise level Brocade storage networking. Experience with DCX FC Backbones and edge switching on a large, redundant
and complex SAN environment (+50 switches) is a must. Experience configuring and managing Brocade Network Advisor a plus.
Previous experience with trouble ticketing system essential
Knowledge of Industry Monitoring Standards (CIM, SMI-S) a plus.
Strong shell/perl/bash scripting skills a plus.
Strong knowledge and/or prior experience with OS administration would be a huge plus. Experience with HPUX and/or VMware particularly would be
highly advantageous.
Prior experience in process re-engineering/improvement a plus.
Knowledge/experience on Capacity Management processes a plus.
