India’s tech capital, Bengaluru, is the new destination for company headquarters. And it’s not only IT giants like HCL, IBM or Infosys which are shifting base. New-economy companies including Quikr, FreeCharge, Ola cabs, Kelly Services, Adecco India and Randstad India are haven chosen Bengaluru to take advantage of the concentration of techies and venture capitalist crowd. Till a few years ago, Delhi and Mumbai were corporate India’s preferred locations for establishing headquarters.

“The primary reasons for our shift from Mumbai is to get easier access to talent in Bengaluru since we want to double our technology and product team, and Bengaluru seemed to the best place to achieve this objective,” said Pranay Chulet, CEO, Quikr. “The trend is likely to continue. From real estate’s perspective, it works out much cheaper to be in Bengaluru than in Mumbai or Delhi,” said Rituparna Chakraborty, senior vice-president, TeamLease Services, a staffing firm.
