Purpose of the Role
The Application Engineering Manager plays a key technical role in ensuring successful integration of Deutz engines into OEM equipment across industries like construction, mining, material handling, and agriculture. As an individual contributor, the role focuses on delivering expert application engineering support, working closely with OEM customers, the sales team, global engineering, and the service team to ensure engines meet application, performance, emissions, and cost requirements.
Key Responsibilities
... - Act as the technical lead on engine application projects with OEM customers in India.
- Understand customer requirements and translate them into tailored engine integration solutions.
- Provide expertise on installation layout, cooling systems, air intake/exhaust design, vibration and noise control, and electronic control system integration.
- Support Bharat Stage (BS) V, CPCB IV+, and other emission compliance processes in coordination with regulatory and global teams.
- Conduct and oversee field validation, application testing, and durability trials to ensure robust engine performance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during development, testing, and field operation.
- Collaborate with global Deutz engineering teams on software calibration, technical documentation, and product support.
- Support sales and business development teams with technical presentations, project feasibility evaluations, and application risk assessments.
- Prepare technical reports, documentation, approval protocols, and lessons learned for continuous improvement.
- Stay updated on industry trends, competitive offerings, and regulatory updates relevant to engine applications.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Automotive, or related Engineering discipline
- 8–12 years of experience in engine application engineering, preferably with off-highway equipment
- Strong technical knowledge of diesel/gas engines, aftertreatment systems, and electronic controls
- Experience with emission regulations (BS V, CPCB IV+, Euro Stage V, etc.)
- Hands-on skills in validation, troubleshooting, and problem-solving in OEM applications
- Familiarity with CAD tools, simulation, and data acquisition systems
