Key Responsibilities:
- Project Management:
- Lead and manage mechanical engineering projects, ensuring timely delivery within budget and scope.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams including design, procurement, and construction to ensure smooth project execution.
- Monitor project schedules and budgets, providing updates and reports to senior management.
- Identify and mitigate potential risks, escalating issues as necessary.
- Design & Engineering:
- Assist in the development and review of mechanical designs, including process equipment, piping systems, HVAC systems, and structural components.
- Perform detailed engineering calculations, including stress analysis, thermal analysis, and fluid dynamics, to ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Evaluate and select appropriate materials, equipment, and components based on technical specifications, cost, and project requirements.
- Procurement & Vendor Management:
- Prepare and issue technical specifications for procurement of mechanical equipment, materials, and services.
- Liaise with vendors and suppliers, ensuring timely delivery of materials and equipment as per project requirements.
- Review and approve vendor documentation, including drawings, certifications, and data sheets.
- Construction & Commissioning:
- Oversee mechanical installation activities on-site, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and design standards.
- Perform inspections and tests on equipment and systems during the commissioning phase.
- Support troubleshooting and issue resolution during the commissioning and start-up phases.
- Quality Assurance & Compliance:
- Ensure that all designs and activities adhere to relevant industry codes and standards (ASME, API, ASHRAE, etc.).
- Prepare and maintain project documentation, including design reports, calculations, and equipment specifications.
- Conduct regular quality control checks and inspections to ensure that all mechanical works meet required standards and specifications.
- Collaboration & Communication:
- Communicate effectively with internal teams, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment and progress on projects.
- Participate in project meetings and presentations, providing updates and addressing any technical concerns.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Experience: 3-4 years of experience in mechanical engineering within the process industry (chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, etc.).
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in mechanical design software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc.).
- Strong knowledge of engineering principles, material selection, and mechanical systems.
- Familiarity with process equipment, pumps, valves, heat exchangers, compressors, and piping systems.
- Experience with engineering codes and standards (ASME, ASHRAE, API, etc.).
- Project Management: Familiarity with project management tools (MS Project, Primavera, etc.) and methods.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify issues and develop solutions quickly.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications: PMP, Six Sigma, or other relevant certifications.
- Industry Experience: Previous experience in the design and execution of projects in the process industry.
Software Proficiency: Basic to Advanced knowledge of 3D modeling and simulation tools is a plus.
