Job Summary:
The Vice President (VP) of Mortgage Origination will lead and manage the end-to-end origination operations for U.S. residential mortgage products. This executive role is responsible for ensuring high-quality loan production, regulatory compliance, strategic growth, and team leadership across retail, wholesale, or correspondent lending channels.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and implement business plans to drive loan volume growth and profitability.
- Lead origination strategies aligned with company goals and U.S. mortgage market trends.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with investors, regulatory bodies, and third-party service providers.
Operational Oversight:
- Oversee daily operations of mortgage origination including processing, underwriting, closing, and funding.
- Implement technology and process enhancements to improve cycle times, customer experience, and cost efficiency.
- Ensure adherence to all federal, state, and agency regulations (e.g., FHA, VA, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac).
Compliance & Risk Management:
- Collaborate with Legal and Compliance teams to maintain regulatory compliance (TILA-RESPA, ECOA, HMDA, etc.).
- Monitor internal controls and risk mitigation strategies across the origination lifecycle.
Team Management & Development:
- Lead, mentor, and develop regional and national origination teams including loan officers, processors, and support staff.
- Drive a performance-oriented culture through coaching, metrics, and goal setting.
- Support diversity, equity, and inclusion in hiring and career development.
Reporting & Analytics:
- Monitor KPIs such as application-to-close cycle time, pull-through rates, funding volumes, and customer satisfaction.
- Prepare executive-level reports and presentations on origination performance.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience: 15+ years in mortgage banking with at least 5 years in a senior origination leadership role.
- Proven track record managing large-scale U.S. mortgage origination operations.
- Deep understanding of U.S. mortgage guidelines, investor requirements, and secondary market practices.
- Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and financial acumen.
