why randstad with heart?

Beyond the business value we provide, our company has a long history of charitable and philanthropic work aimed at bettering the work lives of vulnerable people around the world. Through a wide variety of local and global initiatives and partnerships, we have helped thousands to become more independent and prosperous. This framework helps us coordinate and enhance our efforts not only to align our support with what we stand for as a company but also so employees can readily identify how they can get involved and help.

Randstad with Heart is made up of three key pillars, where each of our initiatives has been carefully placed in order to help people across the world reach their full potential.

three key pillars of RwH globally

1. volunteering with heart

Corporate volunteering provides employees with the opportunity to live Randstad’s core values and enhance their own development as individuals, professionals, and as citizens. It is a way for you to become directly involved and give back to the community or society as a whole. Volunteering with Heart includes locally-driven corporate volunteering programs (where each employee has eight hours of volunteering) and globally-led partnerships such as the long-standing partnership we have with Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) where we work together in order to empower marginalized youth to attain decent and sustainable work.

2. giving with heart

Corporate giving refers to social and philanthropic initiatives launched by Randstad. This includes trusted charities, foundations, and NGOs aligned with our purpose, and our ultimate goal of becoming the world's most equitable and specialized talent company.

Giving with Heart partnerships include working together with UNICEF, VSO, and World Bicycle Relief, amongst others, where we initiate and get involved by leading sports challenges to raise awareness or creating emergency relief contributions, for example - the World Bicycle Relief: Pedal to Empower 2022 Ride, brought together 20 teams and over 150 individuals from around the world. Randstad clocked an impressive combined 12.095,19 km. This made Randstad the most involved organization in the event.

3. pro-bono consulting with heart

Pro-bono consulting focuses on all non-profit skills, time and services offered by employees to charities or non-profit technical support to non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and other groups. This service can be performed during working hours and includes support around things such as mentoring, capacity building, and strategic direction. It also includes participation in the Randstad Challenge Fund for Youth Employment (CFYE) which was set up by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs and aims to create a prosperous future for 200,000 young women and men in certain parts of the world.

project atmavishwas

Randstad India reenergized its corporate citizenship, social impact and sustainability goals in 2021 through project atmavishwas. The overarching ambition of this program was to to help youth from underprivileged, historically and currently excluded communities build employability skills and support them to become future-ready.

Over the last several years, our focus has been on partnering with India based non-profit and non-governmental organizations that support youth from the following communities:

  1. Financially and socially marginalized sections of society
  2. Historically excluded region (northeast)
  3. LGBTQIA++ community
  4. People with disabilities

In the past our employees have volunteered for the following activities:

  1. English language coaching
  2. Mock interview sessions and interview etiquette
  3. Profile building
  4. Industry insights
  5. Insights on hot skills in the market

lookback over the years..

In 2022, we partnered with the following non-profit organizations

  1. Foundation for Excellence (FFE) - we conducted mock interviews and career counselling sessions for underprivileged engineering students.
  2. Rise Against Hunger India (RAHI) - Packed 10,000 meals at our office premises in Bangalore to feed the poor.
  3. TWEET Foundation - Some of our employees conducted English language classes for the transgender youth at TWEET.

For 2023, we have partnered with 6 NGOs and we kickstarted project atmavishwas for the year with TWEET Foundation. We organized sessions for them on CV preparation, interview preparation and mock interviews. We are also organizing excel coaching sessions for the cohort on weekends.

VSO

Globally randstad has a partnership with VSO for about 19 years now. In India, we have successfully completed the following activities

#movetotalk challenge:

The objective

Through this challenge we raise money to support underprivileged youth in various parts of africa, south east asia and helped them in finding gainful employment through skilling or by providing resources to help start their own business, thus in turn generating employment for society.

How do we contribute?

We contribute to this noble cause by taking part in any physical activity and by preferably recording a video of the session where we talk about the cause, to raise awareness.

The number of active minutes are then recorded in a google sheet and randstad contributes 0.25 euros for every active minute of participation, upto a maximum of 30,000 euros.

How did India fare?

India came out on top globally among all randstad opcos in both 2022 and 2023 with a very significant lead over the second placed opco and the only opco to have crossed 300 participating volunteers in terms of numbers.

#VSO selector program

We had the selector program running with VSO in the past, where we had our employees volunteering their time to interview and select candidates for VSO’s global in country volunteering assignments and also supported them on market research.
