Role Overview:
The APAC Legal Leader will oversee all legal and compliance matters across the Asia-Pacific region, ensuring alignment with global strategies and adherence to local regulations. This role involves providing strategic legal counsel to senior leadership, managing regional legal teams, and mitigating legal risks to support business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Legal Counsel: Advise APAC executive leadership on legal risks and opportunities related to business operations, investments, and strategic initiatives.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with local and international laws, including anti-corruption, data privacy, competition law, and industry-specific regulations.
- Contract Management: Oversee the drafting, negotiation, and review of complex commercial agreements, including joint ventures, M&A transactions, and service contracts.
- Litigation and Dispute Resolution: Manage and resolve legal disputes, liaising with external counsel as necessary.
- Corporate Governance: Maintain corporate records, ensure compliance with corporate policies, and support board and shareholder meetings.
- Team Leadership: Lead and develop the regional legal team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including HR, Finance, and Operations, to provide legal support and guidance.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) from a recognized institution;
- Experience: Minimum of 12 years of legal experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within a multinational corporation.
- Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with the legal and regulatory landscape across multiple APAC countries.
- Skills: Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills; ability to manage complex legal issues and provide strategic advice.
