Objectives:
The Heading/Rolling Machine Technician is responsible for the setup, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of heading and rolling machines used in the manufacturing process. This role involves ensuring the machines are running efficiently, maintaining high-quality production standards, and performing preventive maintenance and repairs as needed to minimize downtime. The technician works closely with production teams to optimize machine performance and ensure that production goals are met.
Principal duties:
· Machine Setup and Operation:
- Set up heading/rolling machines for production runs, including tool changes, machine adjustments, and material handling.
- Operate 8-10 heading/rolling machines in a safe and efficient manner, ensuring consistent product quality and meeting production targets.
- Monitor machine performance during operation, adjusting settings and making real-time decisions to address any issues or defects.
- Train Junior technicians on heading/Rolling machines.
· Troubleshooting and Repair:
- Troubleshoot and diagnose machine malfunctions, mechanical failures, and operational issues.
- Ensure minimal production downtime by quickly identifying and resolving issues with machines.
· Quality Control and Inspection:
- Monitor product quality during production runs to ensure adherence to specifications and customer requirements.
- Perform periodic inspections of machine output to identify defects or inconsistencies.
- Collaborate with quality control teams to address quality issues and implement corrective actions.
· Documentation and Reporting:
- Keep accurate records of machine settings, maintenance activities, and repairs performed.
- Report any significant machine issues, downtime, or performance deviations to the production supervisor or maintenance manager.
- Assist in the documentation of machine specifications, operational procedures, and safety protocols.
· Process Improvement:
- Work closely with production and engineering teams to optimize machine settings, improve cycle times, and reduce scrap rates.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, such as implementing best practices or identifying opportunities to upgrade machinery or processes.
- Suggest improvements to tooling or machine configurations to enhance productivity and product quality.
· Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to all safety regulations and guidelines while operating, maintaining, and repairing machinery.
- Ensure that heading and rolling machines comply with all relevant health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Promote a culture of safety and report any safety hazards or concerns immediately
