SHIPBUILDING
A. Production Planning & Control
Develop detailed micro-plans for the installation, pre-assembly, and alignment of pump units and complex valve groups. Monitor resource allocation (manpower, tools, bolting equipment, test rigs) and track progress in the ERP/SAP system to ensure timely completion of outfitting milestones.
B. Pump Unit Installation & Alignment
Supervise the safe mounting, bedding, and precision alignment of all marine pumps (e.g., centrifugal, screw, gear) with their coupled motors/drivers. Oversee the preparation and pouring of chocks (epoxy/metal) to ensure vibration-free operation and obtain Class approval for final alignment.
C. Valve and Component Installation
Directly Manage the correct installation and securing of all types of valves (e.g., globe, gate, butterfly, non-return) and specialty fittings like strainers, expansion joints, and flanges. Ensure correct orientation, secure bolt tightening/torquing procedures, and maintain material traceability.
D. System Testing & Quality Control
Coordinate closely with concern teams for the execution of hydrostatic, pneumatic, and functional pressure testing of pipe sections and completed systems. Document leakage control and defect rectification at valve and flange joints.
E. Documentation & Reporting
Installation records
Pre- and post-installation inspection reports with photographic evidence.
Updated system diagrams and as-built documentation
Pressure test reports and system commissioning data.
Class and OEM inspection clearance certificates.
Compile and submit test packages for class approval and project handover.
Maintain a digital archive of all drawings, procedures, and reports in accordance with project document control procedures.
Support audit readiness and ensure traceability of all installed components through proper documentation.
Prepare final system completion and performance summary reports for project closure.
F. Pre-Commissioning & Trials Support
Execute all pre-commissioning checks specific to pumps (e.g., rotation direction, lubrication) and valves (functional stroking, calibration of control valves, limit switch checks). Support the System Integration team during Harbour Acceptance Trials (HAT) for pump and valve system verification.
G. Documentation & Compliance
Ensure that all mandatory quality documentation (e.g., Alignment Reports, Bolt Tensioning Records, Pressure Test Certificates, Valve Logs) is accurately prepared, certified by Class, and submitted for final handover. Enforce rigorous QHSE standards on site, particularly during pressure testing and heavy lifting operations
H. Safety & Compliance
Ensure that all work is carried out under approved work permits (Hot Work, Confined Space, etc.).
Enforce safety practices — isolation of systems, proper lifting, and safe use of hydraulic/pneumatic tools.
Conduct toolbox talks and ensure compliance with yard safety regulations.
Ensure proper disposal of waste oil, gaskets, and seals in compliance with environmental norms.
