Role Summary
Warehouse Manager is responsible for end-to-end management of warehousing operations including safe storage, handling, movement, and distribution of materials. The role ensures 100% compliance with statutory and company standards while driving operational efficiency, process discipline, cost optimization, and excellence in customer service. The position requires a proactive leader with Service mindset who can mentor teams, enforce safety culture, and continuously improve operational performance.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Warehouse Operations Management
Lead warehouse operations ensuring safety, productivity, and on-time deliveries.
Manage Capex/Opex budgets and drive cost-efficiency initiatives.
Implement operational excellence programs to deliver best-in-class warehousing standards.
Foster a culture of discipline, compliance, and high performance aligned with Galaxy values.
Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders within GCD and other departments.
2. Safety, Compliance & Regulatory Management
Ensure full compliance with all statutory and internal safety requirements (PESO, Pollution Board, chemical handling norms, etc.).
Lead incident reporting with timely root cause investigations and closure of corrective actions to maintain workplace safe.
Maintain updated SOPs, manuals, and documentation for audits, inspections, and certifications.
Champion strong safety behaviors, emergency preparedness, and zero-incident mindset.
3. Inventory & Documentation Control
Optimize warehouse layout and storage systems for safe, cost-efficient operations.
Manage inventory including SMS, blocked stock, expired materials, and customer returns.
Maintain accurate safety stocks and reorder levels in coordination with supply chain teams.
Drive inventory governance using SAP WMS and ensure high inventory accuracy through audits and controls.
4. Vendor & Stakeholder Coordination
Coordinate with sourcing and supply planners for timely inbound and outbound material movement.
Optimize stock levels, warehouse space utilization, and vendor service performance.
Build effective relationships with external warehouses, logistics partners, and transporters.
5. Team Leadership & Capability Building
Lead, coach, and develop warehouse teams to ensure high productivity and performance discipline.
Conduct regular training on chemical safety, MHE operations, SOP compliance, and emergency response.
Create a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
6. Continuous Improvement & Digitalization
Identify and drive improvement initiatives in safety, quality, service, and cost.
Implement 5S, Kaizen, Lean practices to enhance turnaround efficiency and reduce waste.
Lead digital transformation initiatives to modernize warehousing processes and data accuracy.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Zero safety incidents and 100% adherence to warehouse safety norms.
- SOP & GMP compliance with no non-conformities in audits.
- High inventory accuracy supported by robust SAP WMS usage and regular audits.
- Customer service excellence through timely deliveries and VTAT adherence.
- Cost optimization across site and external warehouse operations.
- Training completion 100% for warehouse teams on safety and operation modules.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
Education
B.Sc. (Chemistry) / B.E. Chemical / Diploma in Chemical Engineering.
Management qualification in Supply Chain/Logistics is an added advantage.
Experience
8-15 years of experience in warehousing, with at least 5 years managing chemical or hazardous goods warehouses.
Technical Skills
Expertise in chemical warehousing and hazardous goods management.
Proficiency in SAP WMS and ERP-based inventory systems.
Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks: GST, OSHA, GHS, MPCB, PESO.
