Key Responsibilities
- Concept Design & Development
- Develop machine concepts from scratch based on functional requirements
- Translate customer/plant needs into engineering solutions
- Perform feasibility studies and concept validation
- Engineering Calculations & Analysis
- Perform detailed design calculations (strength, torque, power, stress, fatigue, etc.)
- Validate designs using engineering principles and hand calculations (not just software outputs)
- Selection of motors, gearboxes, drives, bearings, and structural elements
- Machine Design Ownership
- End-to-end design responsibility: concept → design → prototyping → validation
- Work on complete systems/subsystems rather than isolated components
- Cross-functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Manufacturing, Assembly, Quality, and SCM teams
- Support shopfloor during trials, debugging, and improvements
- Continuous Improvement
- Identify design inefficiencies and drive optimization (cost, performance, reliability)
- Standardization and modularization of machine designs
