Role Overview
The General Manager – Seed Division will be responsible for managing the end-to-end operations of the seed business, including product development, sales, marketing, team leadership, and revenue growth. The role requires coordination with R&D for product development, overseeing field demonstrations, and executing market strategies in the company’s focus regions across India.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Seed Business Unit including sales, marketing, and product innovation for crops such as maize, mustard, millets, paddy, and fodder.
- Manage product development activities and coordinate multi-location field demonstrations in collaboration with the R&D team.
- Define and execute go-to-market strategies across the company’s targeted regions.
- Achieve revenue and profitability (PAT) goals for the seed division.
- Build, lead, and mentor a national team of Regional Managers, Area Managers, and Field Development Officers.
- Strengthen distribution networks and support last-mile delivery operations.
- Build Janotthan’s brand as a reliable and innovative seed company through on-ground initiatives and stakeholder engagement.
- Work closely with internal departments including agronomy, supply chain, operations, and finance to ensure timely execution of plans.
- Engage with ICAR institutes, SAUs, and relevant government bodies for collaborative research and hybrid development.
- Monitor market trends, gather business intelligence, and assess competitive positioning.
Desired Candidate Profile
- Minimum 12 years of progressive experience in the seed or agri-input sector.
- Proven expertise in product development, crop-specific marketing, and farmer outreach.
- Experience in leading multi-tier teams across diverse agro-climatic regions.
- Strong communication, leadership, and analytical skills with a result-oriented approach.
- Ability to work in a fast-growing, innovation-driven environment.
Educational Qualifications
- M.Sc. in Agriculture (Agronomy, Biochemistry, Plant Breeding, or related field)
- MBA in Agri Business / Marketing is desirable but not mandatory
