About the Role
A leading integrated Specialty Chemicals Company and Star Export House is seeking a dynamic, experienced Procurement Manager to join the team at its Kolkata factory and head office. The ideal candidate brings exceptional negotiation skills, a commitment to on-time delivery, efficiency in procurement processes, and a proactive approach to vendor development. A background in Mechanical Engineering is required to effectively understand and oversee procurement processes within our manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Procurement: Develop and implement procurement strategies to optimize costs while ensuring quality and timely delivery. Identify reliable suppliers, negotiate favorable terms, and monitor market trends to capitalize on opportunities and mitigate risks.
Supply Chain Management: Maintain efficient supply chain operations to meet production demands and minimize inventory costs. Coordinate across internal departments to forecast needs, ensure material availability, and maintain strong supplier relationships.
Vendor Development: Evaluate and onboard new suppliers based on quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness. Conduct regular vendor assessments for compliance and collaborate with suppliers to drive continuous improvement.
Inventory Management: Oversee inventory levels to support production schedules, conduct regular inventory audits, reconcile discrepancies, and implement strategies to minimize excess or obsolete stock.
Compliance & Documentation: Ensure full compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards. Maintain detailed records of transactions, contracts, and vendor data, while preparing analytical performance reports for strategic decisions.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, combined with studies/experience in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
Experience: 8-10 years of proven experience as a Procurement Manager or similar role within a manufacturing environment (chemicals or related industry preferred).
Technical & Soft Skills:
Strong negotiation track record for cost savings and favorable contractual terms.
Deep knowledge of vendor development practices and supply chain best practices.
Proficiency in inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and time-management capabilities.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills for cross-departmental and external stakeholder collaboration.
