Proofing & Planning
- Prepare and maintain proofing schedules based on client approvals and production
timelines.
- Manage version control of artworks and proofs (digital/Epson/Indigo/offset).
- Liaise with clients, prepress, and design teams to ensure timely feedback and corrections.
- Ensure proofs are preflighted, color-managed, and compliant with brand/FMCG standards.
- Track and document approvals, maintaining a master log for all projects.
Production Management
- Create and monitor daily/weekly production schedules for printing and finishing.
- Allocate resources (machine time, substrates, manpower) effectively to meet deadlines.
- Coordinate between design, prepress, QC, and dispatch teams to avoid bottlenecks.
- Supervise machine readiness — ensure preventive maintenance and press calibration.
- Troubleshoot production issues (registration, ink, substrate, finishing errors).
- Optimize material usage and control waste to reduce costs.
- Prepare daily/weekly production status reports for management.
Quality Control
- Approve first-off sheets before full-scale printing.
- Conduct proof-to-print comparison for accuracy in text, layout, dielines, and colors.
- Check color accuracy using spectrophotometers/densitometers; ensure ICC profile
adherence.
- Inspect raw materials (substrates, inks, coatings) before production use.
- Monitor consistency during runs: registration, dot gain, trapping, density.
- Document quality issues, maintain rejection logs, and take corrective/preventive actions.
- Train operators in basic QC checks and maintain calibration logs for all proofing/printing
devices.Skills & Attributes Required
- Strong understanding of prepress, color management, and printing processes
(offset, gravure, digital).
- Ability to balance planning, execution, and QC simultaneously.
- Excellent eye for detail with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Leadership skills to guide operators and coordinate with cross-functional
