Job Purpose
The Senior Manager - Purchase & VD will be strategically responsible for leading the divisional procurement, sourcing, and vendor development ecosystem. The incumbent will design, execute, and monitor purchasing strategies for Raw Materials (RM), Outsourcing (OS), Bought-Out components (BO), Consumables, and Packing materials. The role demands driving aggressive cost-saving initiatives, ensuring absolute compliance with SOPs and IATF guidelines, and optimizing vendor capacity to seamlessly support production requirements.
Key Responsibilities & Deliverables
Strategic Procurement & Governance
Formulate and execute comprehensive purchase and vendor development strategies aligned with corporate objectives.
Review, refine, and enforce Purchasing Policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Draft, negotiate, and execute long-term Supplier Agreements and legal vendor contracts to safeguard business interests.
Lead Plant Purchase Audits periodically to ensure compliance, transparency, and process integrity.
Champion bottom-line impact through structured cost-saving initiatives, value engineering, and strategic negotiation.
Oversee Capital Expenditure (Capex) procurement tracking, project reviews, and presentations to the leadership team.
Vendor Management & Quality Assurance
Spearhead supplier quality, development, and engineering initiatives to ensure absolute adherence to quality metrics.
Establish robust vendor alignment for Machining, Blanking, Forging, RM (Rods, Coils, Sheet, Strip) to meet stringent automotive standards.
Address and resolve quality complaints in collaboration with vendor partners and internal Quality/Maintenance teams.
Ensure 100% adherence to statutory compliances relating to vendors, procurement practices, and supply chain logistics.
Operational Leadership & Execution
Daily: Conduct rigorous operational reviews with the team handling RM, Outsourcing, and Bought-Out items. Attend cross-functional daily and weekly review meetings to align procurement with production schedules.
Weekly: Monitor and clear pending RM cases, manage critical job-work timelines, and collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams (CFT) to resolve operational bottlenecks.
Monthly: Compile and present comprehensive Management Information Systems (MIS) reports, cost-saving matrices, project statuses, and strict IATF 16949 audit readiness tasks.
Candidate Profile
Educational Qualification
Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering / Metallurgy / Production Engineering from a recognized university.
Experience & Industry Background
Minimum Experience: 18+ years of core experience in Procurement, Sourcing, and Vendor Development.
Preferred Industry/Segments: Direct exposure to manufacturing environments specializing in Forging, Machining, Blanking, Stamping, Press Shop, Heat Treatment, and Fastener Manufacturing.
Core Competencies & Skills
Technical: Advanced knowledge of raw materials (rods, coils, sheets, strips); deep technical familiarity with metal forming/cutting processes; advanced, sound hands-on knowledge of SAP MM module.
Managerial: Strong leadership qualities with proven track record in Team Management, Supplier Relationship Management (SRM), and driving cross-functional collaboration.
Behavioral: High analytical capacity with a sharp eye for detail, exceptional negotiation capabilities, and a highly action-oriented, results-driven professional disposition.
