• Ensure the technical aspects of projects are run smoothly and efficiently. Work closely with designers and project managers to maintain proper documentation to ensure successful project completion.
• Provide input related to all technical activities & milestones to the project schedule. Provide Engineering & Design progress updates for project reporting and scheduling.
• Plan, monitor and control the engineering & design activities and technical deliverables for the projects in accordance with the project Schedule.
• Manage technical project priorities in consultation with relevant Project Managers. Consult Department manager in case of project clashes & expected delays.
• Identify & discuss technical challenges with internal stakeholders as well as client as applicable before they cause concerns/project delays.
• Contribute to maintaining product rationalisation/ standardisation across the range of company's engineered equipment and assist in the development of standard systems of work that maximise efficiency
• Brief drafting resources and external engineering/design resources to achieve commercial and technical objectives
• Maintain effective client relationships, advising and interfacing with client representatives on design and risk management decisions
• Communicate with and provide technical advice or training to Project Managers, Capital Sales Engineers, Estimators and tradespersons as required
• Perform various mechanical equipment engineering and design tasks at all job phases, from initial client enquiry/bid through to installation, commissioning and site support
• Assist Capital Sales in standard product selection and where required, in the development of high level/conceptual designs to support tenders and bids/proposals Essential
- Min 10-12 years in a mechanical design/engineering role
- Demonstrated history of designing equipment to support bulk materials handling within a mining or heavy industrial environment (preferably Conveyor, Feeder, Gate)
- Exposure to the design of bulk materials handling equipment, mainly conveyor-based systems, including component sizing such as shafts, drives, and take-up assemblies.
- Experienced in machine design and regularly engaged with technical drawings and queries from workshops, vendors, and clients.
- Strong ability to interface with clients and manage engineering activities from start to finish across active projects, ensuring alignment between technical, commercial, and delivery requirements.
- Completion of TUNRA & Practical Belt Conveying courses or equivalent recognised training in bulk materials handling preferred
- Infrequent local, domestic and international travel may be required
- Preferred.
- Experience with 3D modelling software (e.g. Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD and exposure to FEA tools desirable)
