Key Responsibilities
- To supervise daily production on CNC Turning Centers, Vertical Machining Centers (VMC), and conventional lathes, milling, and cylindrical grinding machines.
- Interpret advanced engineering drawings, manufacturing process sheets, and complex Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) symbols to guide machinists.
- Liaise with the tool room to manage cutting tool inventory, optimize insert selections, and resolve issues related to tool wear and breakages.
- Oversee machine setups, fixture alignments, and initial component test runs before approving full-batch production runs.
- Review, verify, and make minor edits to CNC G-codes and M-codes on machine controllers (e.g., Fanuc, Siemens) to fix part deviations or improve cutting paths.
- Analyze machining sequences to implement Cycle Time Reductions, improve tool paths, and maximize machine uptime across the shop floor.
- Perform first-article inspections and routine floor checks using precision Metrology Instruments including micrometers, vernier calipers, bore gauges, thread gauges, and slip gauges.
- Ensure all manufactured pins, bushes, and shafts achieve the exact surface roughness and micro-level tolerances required for interference or clearance fits in final assembly.
- Coordinate with the Quality Control team to handle Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) reporting and maintain calibration records for all shop floor gauges.
- Enforce mandatory use of personal protective equipment (PPE), specifically safety glasses, ear protection, and appropriate floor footwear to prevent injuries from sharp metal chips and swarf.
- Monitor coolant concentration levels, chip conveyor operations, and execute regular Preventive Maintenance schedules to prevent machine breakdowns. Maintain high 5S Housekeeping standards across the machining bays, ensuring neat segregation of raw material blanks, finished parts, and brass/steel scrap turnings.
