Key Responsibilities
Supervise day-to-day welding and fabrication activities for pressure vessels, heat exchangers, columns, reactors and heavy fabricated equipment....
Execute edge preparation, rolling, forming, fit-up and welding of shells, dish ends and nozzles as per approved drawings and WPS.
Allocate welders, fitters and shift manpower to meet daily production targets and shop loading plans.
Ensure welding parameters, consumable control, preheat and interpass temperatures are maintained as perWPS/PQR.
Coordinate with QA/QC for stage inspections, NDT (RT, UT, MPT, LPT), PWHT and weld repair management.
Monitor weld rejection and repair rates and drive corrective actions to improve first-time-right quality.
Ensure hot-work permits, safe working practices, housekeeping and EHS compliance in the fabrication bay.
Maintain daily production reports, welding records, material traceability and job cards in ERP.
Support welder qualification, training and skill upgradation of the fabrication team.
Coordinate with Planning, Stores and Maintenance for material availability and equipment uptime.
Key Metrics
Strong hands-on knowledge of welding processes (SMAW, GTAW, SAW, FCAW) and fabrication practices.
Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings, weld maps, WPS/PQR and quality plans.
Good understanding of ASME Section VIII, ASME Section IX and ASME Section V requirements.
Hands-on knowledge of welding CS, SS, alloy steel and clad materials including preheat and PWHT requirements.
Knowledge of NDT methods, weld defect identification and repair procedures.
Strong shopfloor supervision, manpower handling and problem-solving skills.
Working knowledge of ERP systems and MS Office
Knowledge and Skills
Education Qualifications Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Production engineering. Welding
certification (AWS/IWE/IWT) or NDT Level II certification will be an added advantage.
Experience 5-10 years of hands-on experience in welding and fabrication of Pressure Vessels, Heat
Exchangers, Columns, Reactors or Heavy Fabricated Equipment. Experience in
supervising welders and fitters, managing weld quality, NDT and customer/TPI
inspections will be preferred.
