Role Overview
The Webmaster and Design Specialist is the technical and creative owner of digital and visual identity. This specialist is responsible for the performance and maintenance of the website, as well as creating high-quality, on-brand visual assets for both digital and print platforms.
Key Responsibilities
Website Management & Technical Operations
Website Maintenance: Maintain, update, and optimize the external website (content, visuals, and architecture) to ensure accuracy, accessibility, responsiveness, and a superior user experience.
Performance & SEO: Monitor website analytics, track performance metrics, and implement SEO (in an AI world) best practices to maximize visibility and engagement.
Security & Troubleshooting: Proactively troubleshoot technical issues, ensure website security, manage backups, and coordinate with IT or Finalsite for advanced support.
Digital Standards: Ensure the website complies with technical standards, privacy regulations, and accessibility guidelines.
Graphic Design & Visual Branding
Design Production: Design and produce a wide range of engaging digital and print materials, including event graphics, recruitment collateral, social media visuals, ad campaigns, and internal communications.
Brand Enforcement: Act as the guardian of the brand. Uphold and enforce brand identity across all platforms, creating design templates and ensuring consistency in all visual communications.
Publications & Layout: Contribute to the design and layout of significant publications and handbooks (e.g., Annual Report), ensuring visual quality and brand alignment.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Web Design, Digital Media, Graphic Design, or a related technical/creative field.
Proven experience (5+ years) in website management and professional graphic design.
Required Expertise
Technical Proficiency: Must be highly tech-savvy and an effective webmaster.
CMS & Coding: Expert proficiency in CMS platforms (e.g., WordPress, Drupal) and a strong working knowledge of HTML/CSS.
Design Software: Expert proficiency in the Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator).
Design & Aesthetics: Exceptional eye for detail, visual aesthetics, typography, and layout.
Digital & SEO: Familiarity with Google Analytics, SEO techniques, and social media platform requirements.
Core Competencies
Excellent organizational skills with acute attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English for collaborating with stakeholders and explaining technical issues.
Self-starter with the ability to work independently and manage the full scope of website and design projects.
