Job Purpose
The AGM – Civil will be responsible for planning, execution, and maintenance of all civil
works in the power plant, including Ash Dyke management, O&M of civil assets, execution
of civil projects, and other related civil infrastructure activities. The role ensures safety, ...
quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely completion of works while supporting uninterrupted
plant operations.
Roles & Responsibilities
1. Ash Dyke Civil Works
o Plan, design, and supervise construction, raising, and strengthening of ash
dyke structures.
o Ensure compliance with CPCB, MoEF&CC, and other statutory norms for ash
pond and ash water management.
o Monitor dyke safety, seepage control, ash water recirculation, and
environmental safeguards.
o Conduct regular inspections and implement corrective/strengthening
measures as required.
2. Operation & Maintenance (O&M) Civil Works
o Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance of all civil structures in the
plant premises including buildings, roads, drains, chimneys, cooling towers,
silos, reservoirs, and boundary walls.
o Monitor structural integrity and safety of critical assets through inspections
and audits.
o Plan and execute repair, rehabilitation, and retrofitting works to ensure long-
term durability.
3. Civil Project Works
o Manage execution of new civil projects such as construction of plant facilities,
warehouses, housing colonies, office buildings, and utility infrastructure.
o Review drawings, specifications, BOQs, and ensure quality standards.
o Handle project planning, tendering, contract management, and contractor
supervision.
o Deliver projects within defined timelines, cost, and safety standards.
4. Other Civil Works
o Coordinate township and colony maintenance including roads, drains,
sewage, and water supply systems.
o Support CSR-related construction/repair works in nearby areas as per
management directives.
o Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental regulations in all
civil activities.
o Liaise with consultants, contractors, and local authorities for statutory
clearances and approvals.
5. General Responsibilities
o Prepare and control budgets for O&M and civil projects.
o Optimize resources and implement cost control measures.
o Lead and mentor the civil engineering team, ensuring skill development and
efficiency.
o Support Head – Civil in strategic planning, infrastructure management, and
long-term civil development initiatives.
Desired Candidate Profile
Qualification: B.E./B.Tech in Civil Engineering
Experience: 15–20 years in civil works of Thermal Power Plants/Heavy Industries,
with strong exposure to ash dyke management and O&M of plant civil structures.
Key Skills:
o Expertise in ash dyke and industrial civil works.
o Strong project execution and contract management skills.
o Knowledge of QA/QC standards, IS codes, and environmental compliance.
o Leadership, decision-making, and cross-functional coordination abilities.
