Key Responsibility Area (KRA): Commercial Manager – Plant Operations (Finance & Costing)
1. Daily Loss Analysis & Financial Monitoring
- Monitor and analyze all day-to-day financial losses occurring in plant operations (e.g., material wastage, energy inefficiencies, machine breakdowns, overconsumption, leakages, flare-ups).
- Identify root causes of losses and coordinate with concerned departments for corrective and preventive actions.
- Submit daily, weekly, and monthly loss variance reports with commercial impact analysis and recommendations.
2. Costing of Production Activities
- Prepare and continuously update cost sheets for all manufacturing activities.
- Accurately account for input costs such as methanol, hydrogen gas, energy, manpower, and machine depreciation.
- Conduct variance analysis between actual and standard costs, and recommend process changes to reduce cost per unit.
3. Raw Material & Utility Monitoring
- Track usage of raw materials and utilities across plants; flag abnormal consumption patterns.
- Collaborate with production to improve raw material yield and utility efficiency.
- Benchmark actual usage against defined KPIs and report deviations proactively.
4. Asset, Equipment & NPA Management
- Review and evaluate all new equipment or capex proposals for commercial feasibility and ROI.
- Maintain a live register of all NPAs (non-performing assets) and develop clear salvage, redeployment, or disposal strategies.
- Track amortization and utilization of key equipment to ensure capital efficiency.
5. Company Expense Control & SOP Implementation
- Design, implement, and enforce SOPs for all company-related expenses (capex, opex, project, travel, logistics, vendor payments, etc.).
- Set up approval hierarchies, documentation norms, and expenditure benchmarks for all teams.
- Monitor adherence to policies and prevent unauthorized or wasteful expenses.
6. Holding Teams Accountable
- Coordinate with all departments to establish cost accountability frameworks.
- Evaluate financial impact of decisions taken at the plant level; hold HODs accountable for overspending or non-compliance.
- Act as an internal control officer ensuring all expense heads are justified and efficient.
7. MIS Reporting & Decision Support
- Develop plant-level MIS dashboards with real-time updates on expenses, losses, and cost deviations.
- Present monthly reviews to the DMD and senior leadership highlighting actionable insights.
- Provide cost-based decision-making support to help streamline plant operations and budgeting.
8. Inventory, Scrap & Salvage Oversight
- Monitor inventory turnover, dead stock, and slow-moving materials.
- Implement strategies to reduce inventory holding costs.
- Track scrap generation and explore profitable or sustainable salvage routes.
9. Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Production, Procurement, Engineering, Stores, Finance, and Top Management.
- Lead commercial audits, feasibility reviews, and cost rationalization drives across the plant.
Candidate Profile – Qualification & Experience
- Education:
- CMA (Cost & Management Accountant) or
- MBA (Finance) from a reputed institute or
- Chartered Accountant (CA) with core exposure to cost and operations management.
- Experience:
- Minimum 10-12 years of experience in plant-based costing, commercial control, or managerial accounting.
- Hands-on exposure to manufacturing environments, preferably in chemical, resin, or process industries.
- Skills:
- Strong understanding of cost accounting principles, financial analysis, and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Tally Prime).
- Excellent command over Excel and costing tools.
- Ability to drill down into financial data and link it with operational behavior.
- Firm, analytical, and assertive personality – someone who can enforce discipline and question inefficiencies.
