The Global Operations and Payroll lead maintains primary accountability for the delivery of precise, timely, and fully compliant payroll services across all global markets. This strategic leader focuses on the standardization of human resources operations and technological ecosystems to support a diverse international workforce. By collaborating with key stakeholders in Finance, Legal, and external partnerships, the role ensures superior operational performance, robust data accuracy, and a frictionless experience for every employee.
Key Operational Responsibilities
Develops and manages the budget for HR operations, including staffing, technology, training, and other resources.
Leads organizational change related to HR processes, systems, and service delivery models.
Proactively addresses and manages all cost saving strategies, such as negotiating contracts with HR suppliers and third parties.
Implements and integrates HR transformation agenda and deliverables identified through HR analytics.
Heads continuous improvement of all HR operational processes and manages a centralized repository of processes, improving them to minimize complexities and promote effective operations.
Directs key HR Operations activities including process improvement, policy development and implementation, and talent relations.
Own end-to-end payroll operations across multiple countries, including salary calculations, bonuses, overtime, statutory deductions, and social security contributions.
Ensure compliance with local tax, labor, and social security regulations; stay current on legislative changes and drive timely updates to processes and systems.
Manage relationships and SLAs with external payroll vendors and country partners; coordinate with internal HR, Finance, and Accounting teams to ensure accurate funding, GL postings, and reconciliations.
Design, document, and continuously improve global HR operations processes (onboarding, offboarding, employee changes, benefits, time & attendance, leave management) to ensure consistency and scalability.
Maintain data integrity and confidentiality across HRIS, payroll, and time-tracking systems, including regular audits, controls, and issue resolution.
Lead statutory filings and year-end activities (e.g., tax reports).
Job RequirementsExperience: 15+ years of HR experience with at least 3 years in a leadership role within global HR shared services.
Global Expertise: Broad and comprehensive understanding of concepts and principles within own and related disciplines. Significant experience (typically 6–10+ years) in multi‑country payroll operations, with deep knowledge of at least one major region (e.g., India + APAC/EMEA)
Process Expertise: Strong sense of ownership, discretion, and respect for confidentiality in handling employee data. Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills, including the ability to explain payroll concepts to non‑experts and partner with Finance/Legal. Strong understanding of statutory deductions, tax rules, and social security/benefits frameworks across different jurisdictions
System Knowledge: Experience in a SaaS, GCC, or fast‑growth multinational environment, or in a payroll operations role for India plus other countries. Professional payroll or HR certifications (e.g., CPP, CIPP, or equivalent), or advanced knowledge of India payroll for India‑based roles. Exposure to implementations of global payroll platform
Change Management: Ability to lead teams through organizational transitions
Cultural Awareness: High degree of cultural awareness and experience working within a matrixed global team.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus (note in India, most will be Masters / MBA in HR)
