About the Role
The L3 AI Developer plays a critical role in designing, building, and deploying advanced AI solutions within delivery Pods. Reporting to the Data Science and AI Developer Lead, this role combines deep technical expertise in Generative AI and machine learning with strong software engineering practices to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performing AI products. The Senior AI Developer also mentors junior developers, drives technical quality, and ensures adherence to standards and practices of AI Platform Team
Duties and Responsibilities
Technical Delivery
- Design, develop, and optimise AI models and algorithms, with a strong focus on Generative AI applications.
- Build and integrate APIs, pipelines, and orchestration frameworks for AI solutions.
- Ensure solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned with enterprise architecture and Responsible AI principles.
- Collaborate with Pod Leads, data engineers, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
- Conduct code reviews, enforce best practices, and maintain high-quality engineering standards.
- Document technical designs, workflows, and deployment processes for knowledge sharing.
- Delivery of high-quality AI solutions that meet business objectives and technical standards.
- Effective mentoring and capability development within the Pod.
- Compliance with AI practices, security, and governance requirements.
Leadership & Mentorship
- Mentor junior AI Developers within the Pod, fostering technical growth and capability uplift.
- Promote a culture of safe experimentation, iterative delivery, and continuous improvement.
- Support the AI Pod Lead in maintaining engineering excellence and delivery velocity.
Collaboration
- Work closely with Data Science and AI Developer Lead and Platform teams to ensure reuse of patterns and compliance with standards.
- Engage with cross-functional teams to integrate AI solutions into enterprise systems.
- Share insights and learnings through presentations, demos, and knowledge transfer sessions.
Skills and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in AI/ML development, with strong expertise in Generative AI frameworks (OpenAI, Hugging Face, LangChain).
- Proficiency in Python and experience with model fine-tuning, prompt engineering, and orchestration.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure), containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes), and CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong understanding of machine learning techniques and data processing workflows.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Experience mentoring developers and driving technical excellence in a team environment.
