Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Lift Technician to join our technical field service team. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of various vertical transportation systems (including traction elevators, hydraulic lifts, escalators, and dumbwaiters). The ideal candidate possesses strong electro-mechanical troubleshooting skills, a rigid commitment to safety protocols, and excellent customer service skills.
Key Responsibilities
1. Maintenance & Inspections, Installation
- Perform routine preventive maintenance (PM) according to scheduled timelines (e.g., lubricating moving parts, checking oil levels, and replacing worn components).
- Test and adjust safety controls, counterweights, door mechanisms, governors, and braking systems to meet regulatory standards.
- Conduct thorough safety audits of the elevator cab, shaft, pit, and machine room.
2. Troubleshooting & Repairs
- Diagnose complex mechanical, electrical, electronic, and hydraulic malfunctions using testing equipment (e.g., multimeters, voltmeters, and diagnostic software).
- Respond promptly to emergency breakdown calls and passenger entrapments, resolving issues safely and minimizing system downtime.
- Disassemble defective units and replace parts such as control panels, wiring, cables, gears, motors, and door locks.
3. Installation & Modernization
- Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and manufacturer instructions to install or upgrade lift systems.
- Connect electrical wiring to control panels, electric motors, and switches.
- Assist in the modernization and structural refurbishment of older elevator systems to bring them up to modern building codes.
4. Compliance & Documentation
- Maintain accurate, real-time digital logs of all service visits, repairs made, parts used, and hours worked.
- Ensure all work complies with national, local, and company health and safety regulations (e.g., OSHA, ASME A17.1, or local building codes).
Skills and Qualifications
- Technical Expertise: Strong background in reading blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematic drawings. Proficiency with hand/power tools and electrical diagnostic gear.
- Problem-Solving: Exceptional troubleshooting ability to pinpoint electrical or mechanical faults efficiently under time constraints.
- Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to [e.g., 50 lbs], work at heights in elevator shafts, and navigate cramped or confined spaces (pits/machine rooms) for extended periods.
- Soft Skills: Clear communication skills for dealing with building managers and clients, and a calm demeanor during emergency call-outs.
Education & Experience Requirements
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent. A technical diploma or vocational certification in Electrical, Mechanical, or Mechatronics Engineering is highly preferred.
