Technical Skills
Strong knowledge of ASME piping codes (B31.1, B31.3) and industry practices.
Proficiency in CAESAR II, AutoPIPE, and finite element analysis tools.
Solid understanding of ASTM C680 for thermal heat loss analysis.
Familiarity with ALA guidelines for buried piping and soil-structure interaction. ...
Experience in pipe support/hanger design, nozzle load assessments, and flexibility analysis.
Soft Skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Clear technical writing and reporting abilities.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Team-oriented mindset with strong communication skills. Key Responsibilities
1. Thermal & Heat Loss Analysis
Analyze thermal heat loss for single, double, or heat-traced piping systems using FEA and hand calculations in accordance with ASTM C680.
Support HVAC load calculations and energy efficiency assessments.
2. Piping Stress & Flexibility Analysis
Perform piping stress analysis as per ASME codes (ASME B31.1, B31.3, etc.) using CAESAR II or AutoPIPE.
Prepare comprehensive technical reports summarizing methodologies, results, and compliance.
Evaluate flange leakage and nozzle loads on equipment to ensure compliance with allowable limits.
Conduct stress checks for both aboveground and underground piping systems.
3. Design & Structural Support
Design and select pipe supports, hangers, line stops, and restraints.
Calculate and size expansion loops, expansion joints, and flexibility elements.
Design and size thrust blocks, buried concrete anchor blocks, and welded anchor plates.
Evaluate the impact of soil, traffic, and overburden settlement loads on buried piping as per ALA (American Lifelines Alliance) guidelines.4. Piping & Hydraulic Calculations
Perform design calculations including pipe sizing, hydraulic pressure loss, wall thickness checks, and support span determination.
Provide input into layout optimization for constructability and code compliance.
5. Collaboration & Quality Assurance
Interface with design engineers, project managers, and construction teams to ensure seamless integration of stress design into overall project execution.
Participate in design reviews and value engineering sessions.
Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and client specifications.
In addition to the above the Employee is expected to complete any other tasks as assigned by his manager.
