We are seeking a proactive and analytical Deputy Manager - Production Planning & Control (PPC) to manage end-to-end production planning, material planning, scheduling, and inventory control in a high-volume manufacturing environment. The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring optimum production planning, capacity utilization, customer schedule adherence, and on-time dispatch through effective coordination with Production, Purchase, Stores, Sales, Logistics, and Quality teams. The role requires strong expertise in ERP/SAP-based planning, MRP, forecasting, inventory optimization, and supply chain coordination.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop daily, weekly, monthly, and long-term production plans based on customer demand and sales forecasts.
- Generate Material Requirement Planning (MRP) through the ERP/SAP system and monitor execution.
- Prepare detailed shop floor schedules, model-wise production priorities, contingency plans, and line loading.
- Conduct daily production planning meetings with cross-functional teams (Production, Purchase, Stores, Quality, Logistics, and Sales).
- Monitor production progress and revise schedules to meet customer delivery commitments.
- Ensure optimum utilization of manufacturing capacity while minimizing production bottlenecks.
Material Planning & Inventory Management
- Plan raw material requirements based on customer schedules, and shipment forecasts.
- Monitor inventory levels of raw materials finished goods, and safety stock.
- Maintain alignment between plant inventory, vendor inventory, and mill stock to prevent material shortages.
- Monitor daily material movement and ensure uninterrupted production.
Customer Demand & Forecast Planning
- Consolidate customer schedules and demand forecasts to prepare firm and forecast production plans.
- Plan production based on Make-to-Order (MTO) and Make-to-Stock (MTS) strategies.
- Ensure adherence to customer delivery schedules for OEM and aftermarket requirements.
- Coordinate with Sales and Customer Service teams to manage changes in customer demand.
- Track customer priorities and ensure timely order fulfilment.
Supplier & Vendor Coordination
- Coordinate with suppliers for timely availability of raw materials and outsourced operations.
- Follow up with vendors to ensure adherence to delivery commitments.
- Monitor compliance, packing standards, purchase orders, and goods receipt processes.
- Ensure smooth coordination between sourcing, stores, and production planning.
ERP / SAP Planning
- Generate and monitor MRP through ERP/SAP systems.
- Convert customer sales orders into production orders and MRP requirements.
- Monitor SAP transactions related to production planning, inventory, and material movements.
- Ensure accurate master data and planning parameters in SAP.
- Utilize SAP S/4HANA planning modules for production scheduling and inventory control.
Production Monitoring & Performance
- Monitor daily production performance against plan.
- Track plan versus actual production and identify deviations.
- Prepare Daily Production Reports (DPR), weekly review reports, and monthly performance dashboards.
- Analyze production losses, bottlenecks, and constraints, and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure production schedules support maximum capacity utilization and minimum lead time.
Capacity Planning
- Perform machine, manpower, and capacity planning based on production demand.
- Analyze manufacturing constraints and recommend actions to improve throughput.
- Balance production load across manufacturing lines.
- Support long-term capacity planning for new business and expansion projects.
Reporting & MIS
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly planning reports for management review.
- Submit financial and operational reports related to production planning.
- Monitor production KPIs, inventory status, dispatch performance, and schedule adherence.
- Present production planning performance during management review meetings.
- Ensure timely execution of production plans and customer commitments.
- Support new product launches through effective planning and material readiness.
