Key Responsibilities
Financial Accounting & Reporting
- Prepare financial statements and income tax returns for companies, trusts, partnerships and individuals.
- Prepare BAS/IAS, FBT and Payroll Tax
- Providing assurance about the accuracy of information contained in financial reports and their compliance with statutory requirements
- Oversee clients' bookkeeping and payroll processing.
- Conduct reconciliations and maintain accurate records.
- Communicate with clients regarding basic queries and document requests.
- Provide or Support Senior Accountant with tax planning for clients
- Stay updated with changes in tax legislation and accounting standards.
Bookkeeping & Transactional Accounting
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processing.
- Monitor daily, monthly and quarterly bank reconciliations.
- Ensure accurate data entry and maintenance of accounting systems.
- Respond to daily emails from SME clients in relation to their accounts.
- Be incredibly detail oriented, prepared and willing to bring discrepancies or issues to the attention of senior staff members.
Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- CPA/CA qualified (or working towards completion).
- Minimum 5+ years’ accounting experience across both transactional and financial reporting.
- Strong knowledge and at least 3+ years’ of Australian accounting standards and taxation requirements.
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., Xero, AccountKit, BGL)
- High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage deadlines and multiple priorities.
