Senior Engineer F&M (Electrical)
3. Key Roles
The Senior Engineer – Facility & Maintenance (Electrical) will be responsible for ensuring the smooth functioning of all electrical infrastructure, utilities, and equipment within the plant. This role will lead preventive and breakdown maintenance, ensure electrical safety compliance, and support energy optimization across the facility. The engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure maximum equipment uptime, efficient facility operations, and regulatory adherence.
4. Main Responsibility & Objectives
Key Responsibilities:
Electrical Infrastructure Maintenance
- Supervise operations and maintenance of plant HT/LT systems, transformers, DG sets, UPS, and main distribution panels.
- Ensure reliability and performance of electrical infrastructure including lighting systems, motors, drives, HVAC controls, and compressors.
Preventive & Breakdown Maintenance
- Develop and execute preventive maintenance schedules for all electrical systems, panels, and utility equipment.
- Lead root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring electrical failures and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Ensure rapid and effective resolution of electrical breakdowns affecting production or facility functions.
Facility Management
- Support the upkeep and electrical maintenance of facility systems such as HVAC, elevators, lighting, building management systems (BMS), and fire detection panels.
- Coordinate AMC and service contracts for critical electrical systems and utilities.
Energy Management
- Monitor and analyze energy consumption across the plant and implement energy-saving initiatives.
- Identify opportunities for load balancing, power factor improvement, and installation of energy-efficient devices.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with statutory electrical safety norms and liaise with government authorities as required.
- Conduct periodic safety audits, earth-pit testing, relay testing, thermography, and electrical panel inspections.
- Ensure proper documentation for electrical inspections, calibration, and certifications.
Project Execution
- Support installation and commissioning of new electrical equipment and utilities during plant expansions or upgrades.
- Participate in factory layout planning and electrical load distribution planning during infrastructure changes.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of energy consumption, breakdown logs, maintenance schedules, and electrical test reports.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports on equipment performance and facility health.
Vendor & Contractor Coordination
- Supervise work carried out by external electrical contractors and service providers.
- Ensure timely procurement and availability of electrical spares and consumables.
5. Qualification/ Experience/ Skills
Education Qualifications:
- B.E./B.Tech in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- Electrical License (preferred but not mandatory).
- Certification in Energy Management or Electrical Safety will be an advantage.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 6–9 years of experience in electrical domain core maintenance.
- Proven expertise in managing assets and utility in FMCG/automotive or high-speed manufacturing setups.
Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of HT/LT systems, electrical safety codes, and statutory compliance.
- Hands-on experience with preventive and breakdown maintenance of electrical and utility equipment.
- Proficiency in using tools like AutoCAD Electrical, CMMS, thermography, and PLC/HMI interfaces for diagnostics.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Good knowledge of energy management practices and safety protocols.
- Excellent communication and team coordination abilities.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
