About the role
The Team Lead - Digital Assurance is accountable for establishing, leading and
continuously maturing Woodside's Digital Assurance capability, providing Digital Leadership
with independent confidence that critical technology controls remain effective, Digital risks
are managed within appetite, and governance obligations are achieved.
The role develops and governs a contemporary Digital Assurance capability that combines
risk-based assurance, technical verification, control engineering, recovery assurance andContinuous Control Monitoring to improve the effectiveness of Digital controls across
Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT).
Working collaboratively with Digital Leadership, Global Risk & Compliance (GRC), Cyber
Security, Architecture and operational teams, the position develops the Digital Assurance
strategy, establishes the assurance operating model, governs the annual Digital Assurance
Plan and ensures assurance activities deliver meaningful insight that enables informed
business decision-making and continual improvement of Digital resilience.
The Team Lead provides strategic leadership to the Digital Assurance team, fostering a
culture of technical excellence, innovation and continual improvement while building
organisational confidence in Digital governance, risk management and control practices.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Digital Assurance Capability Leadership
Establish and lead the Digital Assurance capability and operating model.
Define assurance methodologies, standards, evidence requirements and quality
framework.
Develop the capability roadmap, metrics and maturity model.
Lead, mentor and develop a high-performing assurance team.
Align assurance resources with enterprise risk priorities.
Assurance Strategy & Planning
Develop and govern the annual Digital Assurance Plan.
Engage with VP Digital, DLT, GRC and Digital Risk to define priorities.
Maintain a risk-based assurance calendar aligned to governance obligations.
Ensure assurance coverage reflects emerging technology and cyber risks.
Digital Assurance Delivery
Oversee Control Effectiveness Testing, verification activities and second-line
assurance.
Ensure assurance evidence is complete, reliable and supports executive decision-
making.
Lead assurance over critical infrastructure, cloud, identity and OT environments.
Ensure assurance outcomes identify systemic issues and improvement opportunities.
Control Engineering & Continuous Control Monitoring
Champion Assurance by Design across Digital.
Influence control design so controls are measurable and independently verifiable.
Lead the evolution towards Continuous Control Monitoring.
Promote automation, analytics and assurance tooling.Assurance Governance, Findings & Executive Insight
Govern findings and remediation through to closure.
Monitor remediation performance and escalate material issues.
Provide executive reporting on control health, trends and risk.
Maintain assurance registers, dashboards and governance artefacts.
Recovery Assurance & Operational Resilience
Govern Recovery Assurance and Disaster Recovery reviews.
Ensure recovery plans, testing and documentation remain fit for purpose.
Drive continual improvement in Digital resilience.
Ensure the Digital Business Continuity Plans are exercised
Leadership, Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
Build trusted relationships across Digital, Cyber Security, GRC and Internal Audit.
Represent the capability during audit engagements.
Benchmark against industry practices and drive innovation.
Promote assurance as a strategic business capability.
Skills & Experience
Qualifications
Relevant tertiary qualification in IT, Cyber Security, Risk, Audit, Engineering or
Business.
Industry certifications such as CISA, CRISC, CISSP, ISO 27001 Lead Auditor or
equivalent are desirable.
Experience
Extensive experience leading technology assurance, cyber security, governance, risk
or audit functions.
Experience developing enterprise assurance programmes and executive reporting.
Experience leading multidisciplinary technical teams and driving organisational
improvement.
Technical & Functional Capability
Strong knowledge of enterprise technology, cyber security, governance and
assurance frameworks.
Experience with Control Effectiveness Testing, second-line assurance and
operational resilience.
Experience using automation and analytics to improve assurance maturity.
Leadership Capability Ability to establish strategic direction, develop capability and influence senior
stakeholders.
Strong coaching, mentoring and organisational leadership skills.
Strategy development, people leadership, resourcing/budget, escalation
management experience
Communication & Stakeholder Management
Excellent written and verbal communication.
Ability to translate technical assurance outcomes into executive insights.
Analytical & Strategic Thinking

Risk, Governance & Framework Knowledge
Understanding of industry cyber security frameworks such as ISO 27001 and NIST
CSF.
Understanding of key security concepts such as Zero Trust, RBAC, least privilege,
network segmentation, and secure egress principles.
Cloud, Technology & Industry Insight
Experience with security architecture activities such as requirements analysis, design
reviews, threat modelling, and participating in secure-by-design processes, IT change
management, and design governance processes.
* Experience working with enterprise security tools and platforms, such as Microsoft E5
security capabilities (Defender, Purview, Intune, Conditional Access) and Identity &
Access Management tools (Entra ID/Azure AD, Saviynt, Zscaler).
