Role Summary
The Head of HR will own the entire human resources and industrial relations function for the company - from workforce planning and recruitment through statutory compliance, contract labour management, employee relations and organisation development. The role suits a hands-on leader who is equally comfortable hiring senior management and managing a plant floor of workmen and contractual staff, and who can build robust HR systems in a growing manufacturing setup.
Key Responsibilities
Talent Acquisition & Recruitment
Own end-to-end recruitment across all levels - management, staff, technical/plant roles, and blue-collar/workmen positions.
Build and manage sourcing channels: consultants, job portals, campus and ITI/technical institute tie-ups, local networks, and internal referrals.
Drive the full hiring cycle - manpower planning, job descriptions, screening, interviews, selection, offer negotiation, and onboarding.
Reduce time-to-hire and cost-to-hire while improving quality of hire; maintain a ready talent pipeline for critical and high-attrition roles.
Contract Labour & Contract Manufacturing
Manage the contract labour ecosystem in line with the Contract Labour (Regulation & Abolition) Act - licensing, registers, principal-employer obligations, and contractor governance.
Oversee HR and compliance aspects of contract manufacturing arrangements, including manpower deployment, wage and statutory compliance verification of contractors, and audits.
Ensure contractors meet PF, ESI, minimum wages, and other statutory obligations for their deployed workforce; hold contractors accountable through documentation and periodic audits.
Statutory Compliance & Industrial Relations
Ensure full compliance with applicable labour laws - Factories Act, PF, ESI, Minimum Wages, Payment of Wages, Bonus, Gratuity, Shops & Establishment, and related state rules.
Maintain statutory registers, returns and records; manage inspections and liaise with labour, PF, ESI and factory authorities.
Lead industrial relations at the plant level - grievance handling, discipline, workmen engagement, and maintaining a harmonious shop-floor environment; manage any union/works-committee interactions where applicable.
HR Operations & People Management
Manage the full employee lifecycle: onboarding, attendance, payroll inputs, confirmations, transfers, exits, and full-and-final settlements.
Administer performance management, KRAs/KPIs, appraisals, and increment/promotion cycles.
Frame, update and enforce HR policies, standing orders, and the employee handbook.
Drive training and skill development for staff and workmen, including safety and on-the-job training in coordination with plant and EHS teams.
Organisation Development & Administration
Partner with management on organisation structure, manpower budgeting, and workforce productivity.
Build HR MIS and dashboards on headcount, attrition, cost, and compliance status for management review.
Oversee general administration, facilities, canteen, transport, security, and welfare functions as required.
Required Qualifications & Experience
5-12 years of progressive HR experience, with a substantial portion in a manufacturing / plant environment handling both staff and blue-collar workforce.
Proven, hands-on expertise in end-to-end recruitment across white-collar and blue-collar roles.
Strong working knowledge of contract labour management and the statutory framework governing it.
Sound command of Indian labour laws, statutory compliance, and industrial relations.
Experience managing multi-location or multi-plant HR operations is preferred.
MBA/PGDM in HR or equivalent (MSW / MHRM acceptable).
