Position Overview
- Position Title: Head (Senior Manager/AGM) - Supply Chain Management
- Reporting To: Plant Head
- Purpose of the Position: This role demands a high-level integration of technical material planning for high-complexity BOMs (1,500+ components) and the strategic development of a global supplier base to ensure long-term resilience.
Core Responsibilities
1. High-Complexity Material Planning
- BOM Management: Oversee and maintain multi-level Bills of Materials for complex assemblies consisting of 1,500 to 2,000 individual components.
- Precision MRP Execution: Manage Material Requirement Planning (MRP) cycles to synchronize procurement with fluctuating production schedules, ensuring zero production downtime.
- Timeline Compliance: Ensure material planning and material receipt in the plant is 100% on time.
- End-to-End Ownership: Take total ownership of the process from MRP to PO release through to getting the deliveries.
- Inventory Optimization: Balance high SKU counts with lean inventory principles (JIT/Kanban) to optimize working capital while maintaining safety stock for long-lead-time items.
- Engineering Liaison: Coordinate with R&D and Engineering for Engineering Change Notes (ECN) and New Product Introduction (NPI) to ensure seamless component transitions.
- Contract Negotiation: Lead high-value negotiations and establish Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with critical vendors to secure favorable terms and price stability.
- Vendor Sourcing: Demonstrate deep proficiency in new vendor development and price negotiation.
- Risk Management: Develop contingency plans for supply chain disruptions affecting any of the components, including alternate sourcing and safety stock strategies.
2. Strategic Vendor Development
- Supplier Lifecycle Management: Identify, audit, and onboard new vendors capable of meeting rigorous quality and scalability requirements.
- Technical Capacity Building: Work directly with vendors to upgrade their manufacturing processes, quality controls, and digital integration (Industry 4.0).
- Sustainable Sourcing: Ensure the vendor base complies with 2026 ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) mandates and carbon footprint reporting.
- Advanced ERP Mastery: Apply expert-level knowledge of SAP, Oracle, or similar systems, particularly in MRP II and Master Data modules.
- Data Analytics: Process and interpret large datasets to identify consumption trends and forecasting errors.
- Material Planning Methodologies: Maintain a strong proficiency in Lean Manufacturing, Just-in-Time (JIT), and Kanban systems to improve throughput. Must be experienced in managing a highly demanding work environment where daily customer deliveries are mandatory.
Required Technical Skills & Domain Knowledge
- Manufacturing Domains: Highly efficient and knowledgeable in Forgings, Castings, Sheet Metal Components, and bought-out components like Fasteners and general machine components.
Qualifications & Experience
- Experience: 18-22 years of relevant experience in the manufacturing sector (such as Automotive, Sheet Metal, & Engineering) with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering; an MBA in Supply Chain or Materials Management is highly preferred.
