Job Objective
The Manager – Commercial & Contracts will play a key role in driving commercial excellence, financial governance, and contract management for the North Zone. This role ensures that all pricing, business transactions, and commercial strategies are aligned with Vikram Solar’s regional and corporate objectives. The position also supports cross-functional collaboration to ensure seamless execution of commercial deliverables.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Responsibilities
Support the Regional Sales Director in crafting and executing regional commercial strategies.
Evaluate commercial risks and recommend mitigation strategies in line with company policies.
Analyze market dynamics, customer insights, and competitor behavior to support pricing and contract strategies.
Lead commercial negotiations with clients to secure favorable terms and minimize business exposure.
Collaborate with Legal, Finance, SCM, and Technical teams to align on commercial execution goals.
2. Financial Responsibilities
Ensure adherence to internal pricing policies, discount structures, credit guidelines, and revenue recognition norms.
Monitor and drive collections; resolve disputes to ensure timely receivables.
Perform financial modeling and analysis to support bids and commercial decision-making.
Evaluate payment terms and structures to maximize project profitability.
Maintain proper documentation for audit readiness across all commercial and contractual dealings.
3. Process & Compliance Responsibilities
Draft, review, and manage contracts, NDAs, MoUs, LoIs, and other legal/commercial documents.
Promote process standardization and efficiency across the region’s commercial operations.
Manage the contract lifecycle in relevant systems, ensuring traceability and document compliance.
Interface with Legal and Compliance teams to ensure statutory and regulatory alignment.
Ensure accurate and timely reporting of commercial KPIs and metrics to aid strategic decision-making.
4. People & Collaboration
(If applicable) Lead and mentor junior commercial support staff, promoting a culture of excellence and accountability.
Act as a key liaison between Sales and support functions, ensuring alignment on commercial terms.
Resolve internal conflicts and build collaborative cross-functional relationships.
Train teams on commercial policy updates, contract risk management, and financial discipline.
Qualifications & Experience
Education:
Graduate in Commerce, Business, or Engineering (preferably Electrical/Mechanical).
Postgraduate in Law (LLB) and/or MBA/LLM preferred.
Experience:
Minimum 10 years in Solar EPC, Renewable Energy, Power Projects, Infrastructure, or similar industries.
Knowledge & Skills
Strong understanding of solar EPC models, module supply, and renewable energy commercial frameworks.
In-depth knowledge of contract law, commercial terms, risk management, and relevant clauses (e.g., LDs, BGs, PBGs, warranties).
Hands-on experience with SAP, CRM tools, and contract management systems.
High commercial acumen with strong negotiation and financial analysis skills.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation abilities.
Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
