Qualifications and Skills
Education: A bachelor's degree in engineering (e.g., Mechanical, Industrial), Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
Certifications: Professional certifications such as NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC), OSHA certifications, or a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) are highly preferred and, in some cases, mandatory.
Experience: Proven experience as a Safety Officer or in a similar HSE role within the engineering, manufacturing, or construction industry.
Technical Knowledge:
In-depth knowledge of safety regulations and best practices specific to the engineering and manufacturing industry.
Proficiency in conducting risk assessments and hazard analysis (e.g., HAZOP, FMEA, JSA).
Familiarity with safety management systems and data analysis tools.
Soft Skills:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively train and communicate with a diverse workforce.
Strong leadership abilities to motivate and influence others to prioritize safety.
Exceptional problem-solving and critical thinking skills to address complex safety challenges.
High level of attention to detail and a proactive approach to safety management.
