Job Title: General OPD Nurse
Location: Pune
Experience Required: 0-2 years
Job Summary: Provide frontline nursing support in OPD and preventive health clinics. Responsible for basic patient triage, assisting doctors during consultations and procedures, preparing and maintaining clinical areas, and ensuring smooth day-to-day patient flow. Works under the supervision of the Advanced Practice Nurse (Grade 2) and Senior Nurse (Grade 1).
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care and Clinical Tasks
- Prepare patients for examination and support during physician consults
- Perform ECGs independently, recognise abnormal readings, and escalate to physician
- Administer medications and injections as prescribed under supervision
- Assist in minor procedures (dressings, nebulisation, wound care)
- Maintain aseptic technique in all tasks
Diagnostics
- Collect and label samples (blood, swabs) under supervision; ensure proper specimen handling and transport to lab
- Prepare patients for basic diagnostic procedures (X-ray, ECG setup)
- Maintain readiness of diagnostic equipment (BP monitors, ECG machine setup, thermometer calibration).
- Prepare patients for radiology/diagnostic procedures (X-ray, USG, TMT, etc.)
Compliance and Documentation
- Record vitals, nursing notes, and administered treatments in EMR
- Maintain OPD registers and checklists as per clinic protocols
- Follow NABH standards on infection control, BMW segregation, and patient confidentiality
- Report any incidents or equipment issues to Grade 2 or Senior Nurse immediately
Patient flow and coordination
- Escort patients between OPD, diagnostics, pharmacy, and rehab areas as directed
- Support preventive health check packages by ensuring patients complete all service points
- Assist with appointment scheduling and patient reminders under guidance.
Patient Education
- Respond to basic patient or caregiver queries and escalate complex ones to Grade 2/Grade 1
- Reinforce simple instructions given by physicians
- Direct patients to the right department/staff for further queries
Educational Qualification:
- ANM / GNM
- Experience: 0-2 years
- Registration: State Nursing Council
