1. Strategy & Capability Build
- Establish and operationalize the GCC Model Risk and Validation capability in alignment with organization's's global model risk management framework.
- Define the target operating model, service scope, governance model, and multi-year roadmap for scaling offshore model validation support.
- Build, train, and manage a high-performing team of model validation and model risk professionals.
- Develop a transition roadmap to progressively move from vendor-led delivery to internal capability-led delivery.
2. Model Validation Execution & Oversight
- Oversee execution of assigned model validation activities, including documentation review, methodology assessment, independent testing, benchmarking, sensitivity analysis, report preparation, and findings management.
- Support validation activities across credit risk, IFRS/ECL, compliance, stress testing, and other financial risk models, with potential expansion to additional model classes and regions.
- Review and challenge validation methodologies, assumptions, limitations, testing results, and conclusions.
- Ensure validation reports meet organization's global quality, documentation, and governance standards.
3. Governance, Quality Assurance & Risk Control
- Establish robust quality assurance, peer review, and control testing processes for validation deliverables.
- Support model inventory, periodic review, change validation, ongoing monitoring, and model risk reporting processes.
- Drive reporting on validation status, findings, remediation progress, risk appetite metrics, key risk indicators, and operational performance.
- Escalate material model risk issues, delivery risks, and control weaknesses in a timely manner.
4. Vendor Management & Capability Transition
- Manage external vendors supporting model validation and model risk activities.
- Define, monitor, and challenge vendor SLAs, including quality, timeliness, documentation standards, productivity, and rework levels.
- Ensure effective knowledge transfer from vendors to the GCC team.
- Reduce vendor dependency over time by building sustainable in-house expertise.
5. Stakeholder Management
- Act as primary interface between:
- Model Validation Group in US / TKY.
- Model Risk Management Desk in each region.
- Risk organization in each region.
6. Operational Delivery
- Oversee core functional areas:
- Model Validation
- Control Testing
- Model Risk Reporting
- EUC attestation
- Efficiency & Process Enhancements
- Drive continuous improvement in processes, tools, and frameworks
- Enable scalability through automation and standardization
7. Center of Excellence (CoE) Development
- Position GCC as a Center of Excellence for model validation and model risk management support.
- Build institutional knowledge of organization's global model risk framework and relevant regulatory expectations.
- Promote best practices in validation methodologies, model lifecycle management, documentation standards, automation, process improvement, and the use of model lifecycle management tools.
