Job SummaryThe Painting Production Shift Engineer is responsible for managing and supervising painting operations for cast components during the assigned shift. The role ensures that surface preparation, coating application, curing, and quality checks are performed efficiently while meeting production targets and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Production Supervision- Manage painting operations for castings during the shift. And ensure production targets for painted components are achieved.
- Surface Preparation Control - Ensure proper pre-paint treatment of castings, including Degreasing and cleaning , masking and Grit / Shot blasting,
- Painting Process Management - Supervise painting processes such as Epoxy painting / PU painting with Air spray
- Paint Mixing and Spray Controls - Ensure while paint application that Paint viscosity, Spray pressure, Wet Film Thickness and Pot life of paints
- Quality Control - Ensure painted castings meet coating standards by checking Dry Film Thickness (DFT), Surface finish, Uniform coating and RAL colour matching
- Knowledge in paint defects identification and eliminating - To avoid defects such as Low / High DFT, Paint sagging, Orange peel, Pinholes, Poor coverage & Dust contamination
- Team Supervision - Lead the Painting operators, helpers, and technicians, Assign shift tasks and monitor productivity and Provide guidance on correct painting techniques.
- Equipment Monitoring - Ensure proper functioning of equipment such as Spray guns, Grit / Shot blasting equipment and Paint booth. Coordinate with maintenance for breakdowns
- Safety & Environmental Compliance - Ensure proper use of PPE (respirators, gloves, goggles) for all manpower working in section. Ensure safe storage and handling of paints, and thinners
- Shift Reporting - Prepare shift reports including Production outputs, Rejection or rework details, Daily Paint consumption and Machine downtime
Qualifications, Experience and Behavioral requirements
Qualification: B Tech / DME
Experience: minimum 3-5 years in relevant field with
