Job Description: Head of HR & Admin
Role Overview
The Head of HR will strategically lead and manage the entire Human Resources, Industrial Relations (IR), and Administrative functions across the organization. This role is responsible for overseeing a headcount of 500–600 employees (including 70+ managerial staff) across two major manufacturing plants
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in large-scale manufacturing, robust knowledge of compliance and safety, and a proven track record of handling both strategic policy-making and ground-level operations.
Key Parameters
- Experience: 12+ years of core HR & IR experience.
- Industry Preference: Large-scale Manufacturing / Automotive / Process Industries.
- Location Management: Multi-site operations
- Span of Control: 500–600 total headcount (including ~70 managerial roles).
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic HR & Policy Formulation
- Design, implement, and review comprehensive company-wide HR policies, ensuring alignment with corporate goals and manufacturing best practices.
- Architect and execute the Performance Management System (PMS), driving a high-performance culture through clear KPIs, KRA mapping, and appraisal cycles.
- Design and optimize Salary Structures to ensure market competitiveness, internal equity, and tax efficiency.
2. Core Plant HR, IR & ER (Employee & Industrial Relations)
- Manage day-to-day negotiations with labor, local authorities, and external stakeholders to maintain a harmonious work environment.
- Oversee Industrial Relations (IR) and Employee Relations (ER) across both the Sanand and Assam plants, proactively mitigating labor risks and resolving disputes.
- Establish and manage a robust Grievance Redressal mechanism to address employee concerns promptly and fairly.
3. Payroll, Attendance & Compliance
- Internal Operations: Oversee end-to-end payroll processing, statutory compliances (PF, ESIC, PT, LWF, etc.), and full-cycle time & attendance management for the parent company.
- Cross-Functional Delivery: Lead the seamless implementation of attendance systems, HR policies, and payroll operations for designated external business functions/entities.
4. Admin, Safety & Operations
- Oversee the entire Administration function, including facility management, security, transport, and canteen operations across plant locations.
- Partner with the EHS (Environmental Health & Safety) team to ensure 100% compliance with factory safety norms, accident prevention protocols, and occupational health standards.
- Drive impactful Employee Engagement initiatives specifically tailored for both blue-collar and white-collar workforces to boost morale and retention.
Key Competencies & Qualifications
Technical Competencies
- Deep knowledge of Indian Labor Laws, Factories Act, and statutory compliance frameworks.
- Hands-on experience implementing HRMS, automated attendance tools, and payroll software.
- Strong expertise in structural compensation design and benefits budgeting.
Behavioral Competencies
- Strong Negotiation Skills: Ability to handle complex labor unions and sensitive employee negotiations.
- Multi-site Leadership: Proven capability to manage geographically dispersed teams (West & Northeast India).
- Strategic vs. Hands-on Balance: Ability to switch effortlessly between boardroom policy-making and on-the-shop-floor crisis management.
Qualifications
- MBA / PGDM in Human Resources, Social Work (MSW), or Industrial Relations from a recognized institute.
