2. Job PurposeDeputy Manager- Legal will lead the Legal function at The Hans Foundation, ensuring the organization's adherence to legal requirements. The legal personnel will apply their legal skills to reduce blockages to day-to-day activities in areas, typically including:
- Tax and Finance law
- Administrative law
- Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act (FCRA law)
- Employment law
- Contract law
- Regulation of medical practices
Responsibilities include providing legal counsel, monitoring legal compliance, and effectively communicating legal matters to internal and external stakeholders, including management, donors, and external parties. 3. Key Accountabilities
- Identify and apply legal obligations that would be applicable to THF under the legal framework.
- Assist to ensure compliance with the internal controls, statutory regulations and formalities.
- Identify and analyse legal, financial and administrative risks arising from the practices in the organization.
- Design an action plan for the implementation of recommended strategies.
- Assess and manage risks in operational process and assist in decision making for the organisation.
- Prepare agreements, leases, legal forms, and other official documents on behalf of the organization.
- Draft and vet various legal documents such as contracts, statements, agreements, MoUs etc. and ensure verification by the Legal Advisor of THF.
- Draft response to the queries in consultation with the senior team members/ legal advisors.
- Maintain records and periodically update status of litigations handled by the team.
- Assist in litigation proceedings, including traveling to various jurisdictions for legal and secretarial matters.
- Keeping up-to date with current changes on all relevant areas of laws such as FCRA, Administrative laws etc. and contributing to the enhancement of the knowledge base of THF.
- Provide inputs in operational matters to ensure desired support to the organization.
- Ensure effective archiving procedures for all documentation.
- Clarify legal language or specifications for all personnel in the organization.
- Represent THF as an authorized representative in various matters.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the management.
