Uttar Pradesh is the most populated state in the country and has a talented pool of semi-skilled and skilled employees. Additionally, the huge population is also seen upon by investors as the largest consumer base in the country. The state is also the largest producer of food and is now also known as the hub of the semiconductor industry. Also, Noida, one of the growing cities in the northern region of the country, has seen many research and development centres set up. The GDP of the state grew at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 11.29% from 2013 to 2018. The government has initiated various policies to develop infrastructure and employment environment in the state, because of which it is being considered the best time for investments in various sectors such as IT, food processing, engineering, biotechnology, tourism, etc. All the initiatives put together would contribute to boosting and availability of jobs in Uttar Pradesh.

The state has a developing infrastructure environment where it is well connected to 48 national highways, rail links, and major airports. The state, therefore, has witnessed a high infrastructural growth in the last few years. There has been considerable growth in terms of industrial hubs and clusters as well as public-private partnerships, especially in the infrastructure domain.

The Growth Scenario of Uttar Pradesh

The state has a total of 15 industrial areas, along with 4 growth centres. It is especially noteworthy that the state has 12 special economic zones or SEZ which attract a lot of FDI. Some of the main initiatives taken by the government to open up vacancies in Uttar Pradesh are –

-       10 major cities have been included from the state to be part of the smart city mission.

-       USD 200 million has been set up as the budget for the development of these smart cities.

-       The government’s main focus is on the development of these key areas: Dairy, Electronics, IT, ITES, Tourism, Food Processing, Agriculture, and Manufacturing.

-       As per the IT policy, the focus is on promoting the state as the hub of future IT centres.

-       The state is working towards the development of two biotech zones, 40 IT centres and knowledge parks.

As per the salary trends survey conducted by Randstad, FY 2017-18 is going to be a year of robust growth for India Inc. More than 79% of the organizations are on a hiring spree in the country and the same can be said about Uttar Pradesh as well. For instance, the NCR region, which includes Noida, ranked 4th in terms of paying the highest salaries to its professionals. The NCR paid an average CTC of NR 13.59 lac per annum. On the other hand, the national average stood at INR 13.23 lac per annum. The region also ranks 4th when it comes to paying the highest salaries to mid-level and senior level professionals as it paid an average CTC of INR 10.21 lac and INR 26.08 lac per annum to them respectively.
